At first let me tell you that although this article is being made on the eve of Delhi Police SI Exam 2012 - these prep materials (i.e. Syllabus, Sample Papers & Books) can also be used for future examinees i.e. Delhi Police SI Exam 2013/ 2014 as the pattern of the exam/selection process is not going to change soon.
Delhi Police Sub-Inspector (SI) Selection Process:
Selections for the Delhi Police Sub-inspectors through SSC exam consists of a 400 marks written test, which consists of 2 papers - Paper-I & Paper-II, each paper worth 200 marks. Those shortlisted after PET & medical test (as described below) are called for a 100 mark interview.
Based on the relative performance of all the candidates in Paper-I , the cut-off for Delhi Police SI exam in Paper-I would be decided by Staff Selection Commission. Those above this cut-off would be called for Physical Endurance Test (PET) and Medical test, both of which are only qualifying in nature. If you can clear PET & medical test, the marks you scored in both Paper-I & II would be aggregated and shortlisting would be done to call you for the 100 mark Personality Test / Interview.
Delhi Police SI exam pattern:

These test sections are identical to the SSC SI exam for recruitment of Sub-Inspectors in the four CAPF (Central Armed Police Force) organisations - BSF, CISF, CRPF & ITBP, which you can find in the table below as well as in my previous blog post titled: SSC CAPF SI/ASI Exam Sample Papers, Books, Syllabus & Exam Pattern. If you analyse these two exam pattern/format closely, you will find that only "Part-C Quantitative Aptitude" section of Delhi Police SI Exam is named as "Numerical Aptitude" in SSC CAPF SI exam, which actually means the same thing. Therefore, you can use the prep materials (i.e. Sample papers & Books) for CAPF to prepare for Delhi Police SI Exam.
This exam format of Delhi Police SI Exam is also similar to Bank Clerical/PO exams - which also has similar four test sections - Test of reasoning, General Awareness, Numerical Aptitude & test of English language. Since the test section and even mark distributions are so similar, you can therefore use the banking exam papers & books to prepare for Delhi Police Exam.

Another noteworthy thing to find from above pattern of Delhi Police SI Exam is that - test of English language has been given the maximum weightage - 250 marks out of 400. Hence you have to give maximum focus on that.
