RRB has notified for recruitment of 2018 Senior Section Engineer (SSE). If you are a graduate engineer wanting to apply for an Engineering job in Indian Railway, this article would help you.
Indian Railway has just yesterday advertised for a huge vacancy of 2018 Senior Section Engineer (SSE) posts for twenty one of its RRB (Railway Recruitment Board). This RRB Engineer Recruitment 2014 Notification has been published through advertisement no.: 02/2014. The submission of form has already started and 19th October, 2014 is the last date for submission of online form. RRB SSE Engineer Exam 2014 would be conducted on 21st December, 2014. This exam needs you to be a graduate engineer as qualifying eligibility.
This blog post tells you in brief what is this RRB recruitment all about by quoting the important information on Eligibility and Online form from the notification. But before going further, a small note on what is RRB.
What is RRB:
Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs), as the name suggests, are the organisations which recruits the Group-C jobs in Indian railways. There are twenty one RRB in India, which takes care of recruitment for 17 railway zones. Group-C railway recruitment is done at zonal level by RRBs. RRBs have an apex body at the top called Railway Recruitment Control Board (RRCB).
Example of Group-C posts:
Ticket Examiner, Trains Clerk, Junior Clerk cum Typist, Senior Clerk, Ticket Collector Junior Accounts Assistant, Commercial Clerk, Account Clerk cum Typist, Assistant Loco Pilot, Junior Stenographer, Technician, Senior Permanent Way Supervisor, Signal Interlocking Maintainer, Staff Nurse, Radiographer, Pharmacist, Health and Malaria Inspector, Depot Material Superintendent, Telecommunication Maintainer, Enquiry-cum- Reservation Clerk, Assistant Station Master, Goods Guard, Traffic Apprentice, Commercial Apprentice, Senior Permanent Way Supervisor, Junior Engineer, Section Engineer, etc.
Pay-scale for different posts in Group-C railway jobs:
PB-2 (Rs.9300-34800); Grade Pay Rs.4600 and Rs.4200
PB-1 (Rs.5200-20200); Grade pay Rs.2800, Rs.2400, Rs.2000, Rs.1900 and Rs.1800.

RRB Engineer Vacancy 2014:
There are a total of 2018 Senior Section Engineer (SSE) posts. You can find the RRB-wise, category-wise vacancy in the table at right. These SSE posts also includes the post of "Chief Depot Material Superintendent" in some RRB, which can be found in the notification.
Point to note here is: You can apply for these Senior Section Engineer jobs against a particular RRB only. You have to choose this RRB in the first step of filling the online form only.
Salary for Senior Section Engineer (SSE):
Salary offered by Indian Railway for Senior Section Engineer (SSE) is in Pay-Band-2 :Rs. 9300-34800; Grade Pay Rs. 4600.
With above pay-scale, the salary is approx. Rs. 32,000/= per month.
Selection Process for RRB Senior Section Engineer (SSE):
The Selection Process consists of a written exam - RRB SSE Exam 2014, to be conducted on 21st December, 2014.

Eligibility for Senior Section Engineer (SSE):
Age : (as on 01.01.2015)
Min: 20 years, Max: 35 years.
Age relaxations for upper age exists for reserved categories.
Academic Qualification Eligibility:
You need to posses Degree in Engineering in relevant disciplines as given in page 2-6 of the notification.
Disciplines are: Civil / Electrical / Mechanical/ Electronics Engineering/ Instrumentation & Control Engineering/ Information Technology / Metallurgical / Foundry Engineering from a recognized University/ Institute.
For the post of Chief Depot Material Superintend: Degree in Engineering in any discipline is required.
RRB Engineer Recruitment 2014 Online Form:
For these Senior Section Engineer (SSE) posts in RRBs, you have to apply through Online Application Form only. There is no offline form.
