IOCL has just this week issued Recruitment Notification 2014 for two category of engineering vacancies: Officers/Engineers & Assistant Officers/Assistant Engineers. This IOCL Recruitment will be done through GATE 2014, just like five other PSU organisations so far, details about which you can find in my article titled: Jobs through GATE 2014 - List of PSU Recruiting with Dates.

This article is being posted to apprise you about the latest IOCL job opportunity for Engineers and to help you apply for the same with important information on Eligibility & Application Forms. Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL) is the largest national oil company of India with business interest ranging from refining, pipeline transportation and marketing of petroleum products to exploration & production of crude oil & gas, marketing of natural gas and petrochemicals. IOCL account for over 49% petroleum products market share, 31% national refining capacity and 71% downstream sector pipelines capacity in India.
IOCL controls 10 of India’s 22 refineries and has an extensive marketing network which includes 20,575 petrol pumps and 5,934 LPG distributors. It is India's largest company by sales with a turnover of Rs. 4.15 Lakh crore and it ranks in 88th position in Fortune ‘Global 500’ list in 2013- ahead of all other companies in India.

As stated above, this latest IOCL vacancy is for two category of engineering vacancies:
1.0 Officers/Engineers
2.0 Assistant Officers/Assistant Engineers.
In addition to above, there would be few openings for Graduate Apprentice Engineers (GAEs)., to be recruited on contractual basis for 1-year during which lump sum stipend is paid. On satisfactory performance, they may be regularized in IOCL.
Recruitment for all these positions would be done through GATE 2014. Number of vacancies has not been disclosed at this stage by IOCL, but I think same would be notified in during the form submission stage.
As you can find in the notification and in FAQ, Assistant Officers/Assistant Engineers is an executive level position, though one grade lower than Officers/Engineers.
Salary for IOCL Officers/Engineers:
Salary for Officers/Engineers: basic pay of Rs. 24,900/-per month (CTC approx: Rs 10.50 lakhs)
Salary for Assistant Officers/Engineers: basic pay of Rs. 20,600/-per month (CTC approx: Rs 7.0 lakhs)
Selection Process for IOCL Recruitment through GATE 2014:
After you apply for IOCL job with GATE 2014 registration number, your GATE 2014 score would be obtained by IOCL from GATE authority, shortlist the same and than call the candidates for GD & Interview. Merit list would be prepared based on GATE 2014 score and performance in GD/PI.
Age Eligibility: Maximum 26 years as on 30th June, 2014.
(For Both Officers/ Engineers and Assistant Officers/ Assistant Engineers). Age relaxations exists for reserved categories.
Educational Qualification Eligibility:
Min. 65% (For SC/ST/PWD: 55%) in qualifying degree exam in the relevant disciplines.

You have to appear in following GATE 2014 papers for this IOCL recruitment:
For Both Officers/ Engineers and Assistant Officers/ Assistant Engineers: CH, CE, EE, IN, ME, MT.
For Officers/ Engineers only: CS.
One word of caution: You have to appear in GATE 2014 paper in the subject of your specialization in degree. For example, if you are in studying in Instrumentation in degree, you should appear in IN paper only and not EC paper.
With the GATE 2014 registration number (as appearing in the GATE 2014 admit card to be available from 18th December, 2013), you have to apply for IOCL job.
