POWERGRID (PGCIL) has just today issued recruitment notification 2013 for Executive Trainees (ET) through GATE-2013 from Electrical engineering disciplines. It is the most opportune time for those of you graduate engineers aiming for a job in blue chip PSU companies. In last two days, three other PSU organisations have issued recruitment notification 2013 through GATE-2013: NTPC, HPCL & GAIL. The current blog article is being written to apprise you about the POWERGRID ET job and helps you to apply for the same with summary of information on the eligibilities and application form. What is Power Grid Corporation?
Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. is the largest transmission utility organisation in India and is one of the largest in the world - accounting for 50% power transmissions in India (the other Indian organisations in this sector being - NTPC, NHPC & NPCI). It is responsible for the inter-state transmission of electricity and the development of national grid.
Power Grid has a pan India presence with around 95,329 circuit KMs of Transmission network and 156 nos. of sub-stations (EHVAC & HVDC) with a total transformation capacity of 93,050 MvA. Power Grid has consistently maintained the transmission system availability over 99.00% which is at par with the International Utilities. In the recent times, it has also diversified into Telecom business and established a telecom network of more than 20,000 km across the country. POWERGRID ET vacancies 2013 & GATE 2013 Papers:
Exact Number of Executive Trainee vacancies is not available at this moment, but POWERGRID is going to recruit through GATE 2013 from Electrical engineering branch and hence you have to appear in EE paper of GATE 2013.
Age Eligibility:
Maximum 28 years. (as on 31.12.2012)
Age relaxations exists for reserved categories.
Educational Qualification Eligibility:
Minimum 65% aggregate (just pass mark for SC/ST/PWD candidates) marks in Batchelor degree of Engineering (B.E. / B.Tech. / B.Sc. Engg.) or AMIE (Minimum 65% with both Sections A & B cleared by 31.03.2013)
Since you have to appear in GATE for these ET positions, it is needless to say that you also have to possess the eligibility for GATE, details of which can be found in my blog article titled: GATE 2013 Notification, Eligibility & Forms.
POWERGRID Recruitment 2013 Online Form:
You have to register (i.e. apply) actually twice for POWERGRID ET positions: once for GATE & than for POWERGRID.
First you have to apply online for GATE 2013.
Last date for applying online for GATE 2013 is 30th September, 2012. So better hurry!
Subsequent to your online registration for GATE 2013, you would be able to download the GATE 2013 Admit card from 5th December, 2012 onwards. Now you have to use the "GATE-2013 Registration Number" as given in the admit card to register online for POWERGRID ET Recruitment 2013.
The POWERGRID ET Recruitment 2013 Online form would be available from 7th January, 2013 in this POWERGRID Career website. Last date for submission of POWERGRID ET Recruitment 2013 Online form is 8th February 2013.
Start date for online registration for GATE 2013: 01.09.2012.
Last date of online registration for GATE 2013: 30..09.2012..
Date of availability of GATE 2013 Admit Card (hence GATE-2013 Registration Number): 05.12.2012.
Start date of online registration for POWERGRID ET Recruitment 2013: 07.01.2013.
Last date of online registration for POWERGRID ET Recruitment 2013: 08.02.2013.
Date of GATE-2013 EE Paper: 10.02.2013 (Offline).
Date for GATE 2013 result: 15th March 2013 (Friday)
Date of GD & Interview for POWERGRID ET Recruitment 2013: April/May 2013.

Subsequent to your online registration for ET positions, POWERGRID would procure the GATE scores from GATE authority, shortlist the candidates and if you are within the merit list, would call you for the subsequent selection process - Group Discussion (GD) & Interview.
