NTPC has very recently issued a curtain raiser notification for GET (Graduate Engineer Trainee) Recruitment 2013 through GATE 2013. This marks the beginning of PSU recruiting through GATE 2013, along with HPCL & GAIL which has issued detailed recruitment notification for the year 2013. Detail NTPC notification is going to be published, most probably in a week or so (definitely before 30th September, 2012 - since it is the last date to apply for GATE 2013).

All that NTPC ET Recruitment 2013 notification says at this moment is following:

"NTPC is looking for promising, energetic young Graduate Engineers to be inducted during the year 2013 in the disciplines of Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Instrumentation and Electronics Engineering.
Interested candidates are requested to appear for GATE-2013. Candidates will be short listed for Group Discussion and Personal Interview based on the GATE-2013 scores"

When NTPC updates its website with detailed Graduate Engineer Trainee recruitment notification, I am also going to update this blog post so as to keep you informed. In the meanwhile, you may be wanting to know which other PSU organisations are going to recruit through GATE 2013. NTPC this year (i.e. in 2012) recruited 300 Engineering Executive Trainees through GATE 2012, from the disciplines of Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Instrumentation & Electronics. This blog article is being made to make you aware of  what are the eligibilities required and how to apply for the NTPC Engineer Trainee jobs.   At the fag end of the article, you will find the prep materials for NTPC ET Recruitment 2013.

What is NTPC:

NTPC (National Thermal Power Corporation) is one of the five Maharatna PSU in India – it is India’s largest power company, producing 1/3rd of total power generation in India through its 22 power stations (15 coal based & 7 gas based) with an installed capacity of 34,845 MW. It also ranks as 348th in Forbes ‘Global 2000’ list of companies.

In 2008, it ranked as No. 1 in 'Best Workplaces for Large Organizations' and eighth overall by Great Places to Work in collaboration with the Economic Times.

Branch-wise NTPC ET vacancies in 2012:

Electrical(112), Mechanical(89), Civil(38), Instrumentation(31), Electronics(30).

NTPC ET Salary:

Salaries offered by NTPC for ET is: pay scale of Rs. 24900-50500 at the basic pay of Rs. 24900/- during one-year training and than basic pay of Rs. 25650/-, after completion of the training period. This is apart from other benefits.

Eligibility for NTPC Engineer Trainee :

Age Eligibility:

For ET: Maximum 27 years.

Age relaxations exists for reserved categories.

Educational Eligibility:

For ET: Minimum: 55% marks for SC, ST and Physically Challenged & 65% marks for others..

If you are a Final year / semester student than you may also apply.

Since you have to appear in GATE for these ET positions, it is needless to say that you also have to possess the eligibility for GATE, details of which can be found in my blog article titled: GATE 2013 Notification, Eligibility & Forms.

How to apply for NTPC ET Recruitment 2013:

You have to register (i.e. apply) actually twice for NTPC ET positions: Once for GATE & than for NTPC.

First you have to apply online for GATE 2013.

Last date for applying online for GATE 2013 is 30th September, 2012. So better hurry!

Subsequent to your online registration for GATE 2013, you would be able to download the GATE 2013 Admit card from 5th December, 2012 onwards. Now you have to use the "GATE-2013 Registration Number" as given in the admit card to register online for NTPC ET Recruitment 2013.

Date for availability of Online form for NTPC ET Recruitment 2013 would be notified in NTPC Career website. Most probably the Online form would be available from the second week of December, 2012.

Subsequent to your online registration for ET positions, NTPC would procure the GATE scores from GATE authority, shortlist the candidates and if you are within the merit list, would call you for the subsequent selection process - that is Group Discussion & Personal Interview.
