Notification of MECONs Recruitment through GATE 2013 has come out recently for recruitment of 40 Management Trainee Technical (MTT) from the engineering disciplines of Mechanical & Civil. As per the notification, Online form for MECON recruitment 2013 would be made available from 15th January, 2013  and the last date for submission of the forms is 14th February, 2013.

With eight days to go for the last date of form submission for GATE 2013 (which happens to be on 30th September), thirteen PSU have so far issued the notification for Graduate Engineers recruitment  based on GATE 2013 score. Which are these PSUs recruiting through GATE 2013? This blog post is being made to apprise you about the MECON job opportunity through GATE 2013 - what are the eligibility and the application forms i.e. how to apply, by quoting the relevant information from the MECONs advertisement for recruitment in 2013. Towards the end of the article, I am posting the relevant prep materials for MECON Recruitment 2013: GATE 2013 prep materials for Civil & Mechanical papers as well as GD/Interview prep materials for MECON.

But before that, a small synopsis on MECON as an organisation since you should know about the organisation in which you are interested to work in.

MECON as an organisation:
Established in 1959 and with its headquarter in Ranchi, MECON Ltd. is a PSU under Ministry of Steel, Govt of India. MECON acronym stands for Metallurgical and Engineering CONsultants, however this full name is no longer used.

Manned by 2057 employee, MECON has till date completed over 2700 consultancy assignments covering wide range of fields and services in Power, Energy & Environment, Infrastructure, Oil & Gas, Metallurgy and other specialized areas. Further MECON has executed a large number of assignments on turnkey/ EPC basis total value of which exceeds Rs 27,000 Million.

MECON MT Vacancy 2013:

There are total 40 MT vacancies in MECON Recruitment 2013. Branch-wise vacancies are as below:
Mechanical: 25 & Civil: 15.

GATE 2013 papers for MECON MT Recruitment 2013:

For the MT positions in MECON, corresponding to Mechanical & Civil engineering disciplines, you have to appear in GATE 2013 papers: ME & CE respectively.

Salary for MECON MT:

For the Management Trainee, MECON is offering salary in pay-scale of Rs 20600-3%-46500/-. CTC with this pay-scale is around Rs 7.25 lakhs per annum. After successful completion of one year on the job training, the trainees will be designated as Asst. Design Engineer in E-1 grade.
There is no Service Bond.

Selection process for MECON Management Trainee:

As said above, MECON would short list the candidates for GD/Interview based on GATE 2013 core. So GD/Interview are the only stages which will be conducted by MECON for selecting MT.

Eligibility for MECON MT Recruitment:

Age Eligibility:  Max 26 years as on 31.03.2013. (Relaxations exists as per Govt. rule).

Academic Qualification Eligibility: Minimum 65% marks in BE/ B.Tech for General/OBC category and 55% marks for SC/ST/PD from a recognized Indian Institute/University.
Final year students may also apply.

How to apply for MECON MT Recruitment 2013: Online Form

There is no offline form for MECON MT Recruitment 2013. You have to apply online only.
You have to register (i.e. apply) actually twice for MECON MT positions- Once for GATE & than for MECON.

First you have to apply online for GATE 2013.

Last date for applying online for GATE 2013 is 30th September, 2012. So better hurry!

Subsequent to your online registration for GATE 2013, you would be able to download the GATE 2013 Admit card from 5th December, 2012 onwards.  You than have to use the "GATE-2013 Registration Number" as given in the admit card to register online for MECON.

The MECON MT Recruitment 2013 Online form would be available from 15th January 2013 in this MECON Career webpage. Last date for submission of  MECON application form is 14th February, 2013.

IMPORTANT DATES for MECON Recruitment 2013:

Start date for online registration for GATE 2013: 01.09.2012.
Last date of online registration for GATE 2013: 30..09.2012..

Date of availability of GATE 2013 Admit Card (hence GATE-2013 Registration Number): 05.12.2012.

Online registration for MECON Recruitment 2013 starts: 15th January 2013.

Last date for submission of  form for MECON Recruitment 2013: 14th February, 2013.

GATE-2013 Online examination: 20th January 2013 (Sunday)
GATE-2013 Offline examination: 10th February 2013 (Sunday)
GATE-2013 result date:15th March, 2013 (Friday).

MECON Recruitment 2013 GD/Interview Dates:

MECON notification is silent about the date on which GD/Interview would be held, as they would shortlist the candidates only after GATE 2013 result is declared on 15th March, 2013. Therefore, you can expect the call letter only after this date – may be in the last week of March or first week of April, 2013.
