HPCL has just today issued recruitment notification 2013 for 250 Graduate Engineers through GATE-2013. For those of you budding engineers who are in a dilemma to decide whether you should appear in GATE 2013 - this ends your confusion. But before we go further, a small introduction on HPCL.
What is HPCL:
HPCL (Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd.) is a major Oil refining and marketing company in India and it ranks 267th position in the prestigious list of Fortune Global 500 (2011-12). HPCL Graduate Engineer Trainee vacancies 2013 & GATE 2013 Papers:
A total of 250 ET vacancies exists. Branch-wise break-up of vacancies is not available at this moment, but list of engineering branches from which HPCL is going to recruit through GATE 2013 are as follows:
Mechanical, Civil,Electrical, Electronics &Telecommunication & Instrumentation.
Corresponding GATE 2013 papers in which you should appear for the HPCL Graduate Engineer job is:
ME, CE, EE, EC & IN.

HPCL Graduate Engineer Trainees (ET) Salary:
For the first six months (i.e. in the training period), HPCL offers the Graduate Engineer trainees a consolidated stipend of Rs. 33,000/- per month.
On successful completion of training, Graduate Engineers will be absorbed in management cadre (Grade-A) in the salary scale of Rs.24,900-50,500/-, with which the CTC is Rs. 8.50 lakhs per annum (approx).
Eligibility for HPCL Graduate Engineer Trainees (ET):On successful completion of training, Graduate Engineers will be absorbed in management cadre (Grade-A) in the salary scale of Rs.24,900-50,500/-, with which the CTC is Rs. 8.50 lakhs per annum (approx).
Age Eligibility:
Maximum 25 years as on 30th June 2013.
Age relaxations exists for reserved categories.
Educational Qualification Eligibility:
Minimum 60% marks (aggregate marks upto last semester). For SC/ST/PWD candidates minimum 50% marks
If you are a Final year / semester student than you may also apply, provided you can submit the final mark sheet by 31st August 2013.

HPCL Recruitment 2013 Online Form:
You have to register (i.e. apply) actually twice for HPCL Graduate Engineer positions: once for GATE & than for HPCL.
How to apply for for GATE has been described in detail in this webpage.
Last date for applying online for GATE 2013 is 30th September, 2012. So better hurry!
Subsequent to your online registration for GATE 2013, you would be able to download the GATE 2013 Admit card from 5th December, 2012 onwards. Now you have to use the "GATE-2013 Registration Number" as given in the admit card to register online for HPCL ET Recruitment 2013.
The HPCL ET Recruitment 2013 Online form would be available from 24th December 2012 in this HPCL Career website. Last date for submission of HPCL ET Recruitment 2013 Online form is 14th February 2013. How to apply online for the HPCL recruitment is described clearly in section "HOW TO APPLY:" in page 4-6 of the HPCL job advertisement for Executive Trainees 2013.
Start date for online registration for GATE 2013: 01.09.2012.
Last date of online registration for GATE 2013: 30..09.2012..
Date of availability of GATE 2013 Admit Card (hence GATE-2013 Registration Number): 05.12.2012.
Start date of online registration for HPCL ET Recruitment 2013: 24.12.2012.
Last date of online registration for HPCL ET Recruitment 2013: 14.02.2013.
Date of GATE-2013 exam: 20.01.2013 (Online) & 10.02.2013 (Offline).
Date for GATE 2013 result: 15th March 2013 (Friday)

Subsequent to your online registration for ET positions, HPCL would procure the GATE scores from GATE authority, shortlist the candidates and if you are within the merit list, would call you for the subsequent selection process - that is Group Discussion & Personal Interview.
