CRPF Exam Sample Papers Books Exam Pattern
This blog post follows my earlier blog article titled: CRPF ASI Recruitment 2014 Notification, Form & Eligibility, which tells you how to apply for the Assistant Sub-Inspector (Stenographer) positions in CRPF.

Preparation materials on the net for the CRPF ASI Examination is very less – almost non-existent. However, I would try to point you to the sources of whatever study materials I could find, so that you can prepare for this exam.

At first, let us find what is the pattern/scheme of CRPF Asst. SI  Exam.

CRPF Asst. SI Exam Pattern:
The selection process for CRPF ASI recruitment consists of two stages:
First stage consists of:
i) Checking documents
ii) Physical Measurements.
iii) Written examinations.
Documents as given in section “9. CHECKING DOCUMENTS” of page-4 in the Notification is checked as well as Physical Measurements are taken to ascertain whether you meet the “Physical standard eligibility” as given in section “4. PHYSICAL STANDARD” in page-2/3 of the Notification.

If you meet these eligibilities, you would be allowed to appear in the CRPF written exam.

Second stage consists of:
i) Typing Speed test (Only on Computer)
ii) Short hand speed test (Only for ASI/Steno)
iii) Checking of documents
iv) Interview.
v) Medical examination.
On qualifying the Stage-1 selection process, you would be shortlisted for the skill tests (Typing Speed test & Short hand speed test). If you can qualify these tests, you would be called for Interview. If you are finally selected, medical examinations are done.

Stage-1: CRPF Recruitment Written Exam Pattern:
The written exam of the CRPF ASI/HC recruitment consists of a single question paper of following four parts, each part having 50 Objective type questions with 1 mark for each question:
Part -I: Hindi/English Language: 50 questions,
Part -II: General Intelligence: 50 questions,
Part-III: Numerical Aptitude: 50 questions,
Part-IV: Clerical Aptitude: 50 questions,
Thus there are a total of 200 questions with 200 total marks to be answered in two hours. Cut-off (i.e. qualifying) mark for this CRPF exam is 80 (i.e. 40% of 200 marks) for General category candidates and 70 (i.e. 35% of 200 marks) for SC/ST/OBC Candidates.

Stage-2: CRPF Skill test pattern for ASI:
What skills are tested in CRPF ASI recruitment exam? Following two:
Dictation: 10 mts @ 80 wpm, Transcription: 50 mts(English), 65 mts (Hindi)

Sample Papers for CRPF Recruitment Exam:
The four test sections in CRPF ASI written exam is very similar to Bank Clerks exam s. Even the age eligibility (18-25 years in CRPF exam, 18-28 in the bank exam) and the academic eligibility for both exams are same – Class-XII pass in CRPF exam and Class-XII pass with 50%marks in the bank clerk exam. Hence you can use the sample papers for bank clerical/PO exams as prep material for CRPF ASI written exam too.

These sample papers are reproduced below for CRPF Recruitment Exam:

CRPF Exam Sample Paper: Test of Reasoning
Click here to find a previous years Andhra Bank PO exam sample paper (test of reasoning).
You can also check this previous blog post of mine titled: Test of Reasoning: Sample Question papers & Books, which not only tells you about the four types of Test of reasoning (Numerical Reasoning, Verbal Reasoning, Abstract Reasoning & Diagrammatic Reasoning), but also gives you sample papers and books for the test of reasoning.

CRPF Exam Sample Paper: Numerical Ability
This Quantitative Aptitude test paper of a previous Dena Bank PO exam should give you a good idea about what questions are asked in Numerical Ability section of CRPF exams.

CRPF Exam Sample Paper: Test of English:

CRPF Exam Sample Paper:Clerical Aptitude What is a Clerical Aptitude test? Well, it tests your ability to notice similarities and differences between pairs of names and numbers. Questions asked also assess ability to handle office routine work, like filing, abbreviating, indexing etc. You may find following Clerical Aptitude question papers useful:

Books for CRPF ASI/HC Recruitment Exam:
Sample papers for the CRPF exam as given above are not specific to CRPF exam and hence you should rely upon the guide books available for preparation of CRPF exam.

I found following books on net for preparation for CRPF Asst. SI/ Head Constable Recruitment Exam. These books are available in most of the bookstores, but you can also order them online by clicking the links below, from which offers free shipping/postage in India if the order exceeds Rs. 300/=. You can choose to pay through Credit Card/Debit Card/Internet Banking. You can also choose to pay through “Cash-on-Delivery” i.e. you pay in cash only when the same is delivered at your doorstep:

As you could find from above CRPF selection process, in Stage-2, there are two skill tests:
For Assistant Sub-Inspector (Steno): Dictation/Transcription.
For Head Constable (Min): Typing on computer

To practice for Typing on computer, you can use the materials given in my blog article titled: Test Your Data Entry Skill Online/Download software, which gives you four computer typing test tools to test your typing speed.

To practice for Steno test (Dictation/Transcription), I found following websites can help you:
1.0 Teeline Shorthand: This website gives you 6 dictations online with speeds varying from 50 to 100 words per minute, so that you can practice your shorthand/steno skills online.
2.0 Steno Speed: Akin to above, this website gives a number of dictation/shorthand tests online with speeds varying from 40 to 220+ words per minute, so that you can practice your shorthand/steno skills online.

Hope with above sample papers, skill test practice materials and guide books you can prepare easily for CRPF Asst. SI/ Head Constable Exam. Keep visiting this blog, as if I find more info, I would post the same here. Best wishes!
