The focus of this blog post is on to help you prepare for the SSC Data Entry Operator Exam by giving you the study materials – sample papers & books along with an analysis of the exam pattern.
If you had not gone through my previous blog post, let me tell you that eligibilities for SSC DEO (Data Entry Operator) exam are very simple:
i) You need to be Class-XII pass or equivalent.
ii) You need to possess a typing speed of minimum 8000 KDPH (Key Depressions per hour).
With that let us go on to find the exam pattern of SSC DEO exam.
SSC Data Entry Operator Exam pattern:
Selection process for SSC DEO positions consists of two stages:
Stage-1: Written test.
Stage-2: Skill test.
SSC Written test pattern:
SSC written test consists of a single paper of 200 objective type questions, each with 1 mark, which has to be answered in 2 hours. The test subjects, along with the distribution of marks can be seen at the right hand side.
SSC Skill test pattern:
On being selected in the written test (i.e. Stage-1); you have to appear in the SSC skill test – which is nothing but a test of your typing skill on the computer. You need to just clear this exam, by typing with minimum speed of 8000 KDPH. The SSC skill test is only qualifying in nature.
SSC Data Entry Operator Exam cut-off marks:
How much mark should you score in the SSC written test to qualify? In other words what is the cut-off mark for SSC DEO exam? This question may be bugging you. So I did a detailed analysis on the last two years cut-off marks and the results are as below:
As you could find, for General (i.e. UR) category you need to score around 80% to qualify in the SSC written test, while for Ex-servicemen (EXS) category, 60% marks is sufficient. These cut-offs are relative and varies from year to year (DEO 2009 cutoff was higher that DEO 2008 exam) and hence the above cut-offs are just to give you some idea.
You may be searching for some sample papers for SSC DEO exam. I have searched for these sample/model papers on the net but could not find any authentic papers.
But SSC DEO exam is very similar to Bank Clerical exam papers with papers for “General Intelligence” very akin to “Test of Reasoning” and “Arithmetic” paper similar to “Numerical Aptitude”. Hence you can use these exam papers as sample papers for SSC Data Entry Operator Exam.
