MAT May 2011 exam notification came out recently, last date for application to which is 6th April 2011.The Paper-Based version of MAT May 2011 would be held on 1st May 2011 (Sunday) while Computer Based version would be held from 7th May 2011 (Saturday) onwards. What is MAT?
Management Aptitude Test (MAT) is a management entrance exam held four times every year in the months of May, May, September & December. It is being conducted since from 1988 by AIMA (All India Management Association), an Industry- Government of India interface and which now is a federation of 60 Local Management Associations (LMAs). AIMA conducts MAT on behalf of the participating institutes, number of which has been growing every year and currently, 584 management institutes (West zone:92, East zone:97, South zone:165, North zone:230.) are participating in the in MAT May 2011 exam.
Popularity of MAT has increased among students vying for management degrees, due to MAT being organized more frequently (four times per year - February, May, September & December) than any other management entrance exam, the examination process being simpler and cheaper (Rs. 1050 fee including the application-cum-test fee).
How many students appear for MAT?
As per prominent management coaching institute PT Education from Indore, on an average 6 to 8 lakh candidates write MAT each year (around 1.5 to 2 lakh in each MAT)! This makes MAT the most popular entrance exam in India.

MAT participating institutes:
The number of management institutes (MI) participating in MAT varies from year-to-year. While in last year 532 management institutes participated, in MAT May 2011 exam, 584 management institutes are participating.
Eligibilities for MAT exam:
When you decide to appear in MAT exam, your next query is naturally what eligibilities you need to have to appear in MAT exam. AIMA has kept the MAT eligibilities very simple: You just need to be a Graduate in any discipline from a recognized university. Final year degree course students can also apply.

Last date of sale of MAT May 2011 Offline forms: 6th April 2011 (Wednesday).
Last date of receipt of filled MAT May 2011 form at AIMA, New Delhi:9th April 2011 (Wednesday).
MAT May 2011 Online forms:
Last date of registration by MAT May 2011 Online forms: 6th April 2011 (Wednesday).
Last Date for receipt of filled in Online Registration Forms at AIMA, New Delhi: 9th April 2011 (Wednesday).
Date of MAT May 2011 exam:
Paper-Pencil Test: 1st May 2011 (Sunday), 10:00 AM TO 12:30 PM.
Computer Based Test (Online): From 7th May 2011 onwards
