NERIST (North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology) has only recently brought out the Notification for NERIST Entrance Examination (NEE) 2015. Date of NEE 2015 has been scheduled on 25th April 2015 (NEE – II & III) and 26th April 2015 (NEE – I). The online application form for NEE 2015 would be available from 8th January, 2015 to 27th February, 2015. But first, let us know what is NERIST.
What is NERIST:
Established in 1986, NERIST is a central technical institute of repute in the North East India, located at Nirjuli in Itanagar, capital of Arunachal Pradesh. It has twelve degree awarding departments including a Center for Management Studies.
The Institute offers bachelor’s degree programmes in six engineering disciplines and one in Forestry. The engineering disciplines are Agricultural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering. Besides the bachelor’s degree programmes, several post-graduate degree programmes leading to M.Tech, M.Sc, MBA and PhD are also offered by the Institute.
Its alumni are now spread all across in India as well as the globe, occupying top positions in Government, Private sector as well as in Public sector organisations. For instance VP in wall street firm Goldman Sachs, Director in NIC, Country Tech head of HCL Tech Ltd. etc.

What is NEE-I, NEE-II & NEE-III:
NERIST Academic pattern is unique in the sense that it was one of the first to embrace modular system of education in entire south east Asia. It has following three modules:
1.0 Base or Certificate module at the end of which you get a technical certificate, equivalent to ITI certificate.
2.0 Diploma module at the end of which you get a Diploma in relevant stream.
3.0 Degree module at the end of which you get a Degree in relevant stream.
There is vertical entry and exit at each module as well as lateral entry in Diploma and Degree module. More about this has been given in the flow-chart given below. (Click to enlarge).
Therefore there are three different entrance exams for the three module as well:
1.0 NEE-I: As entrance exam for NERIST Certificate module.
2.0 NEE-II: As entrance exam for NERIST Diploma module.
3.0 NEE-III: As entrance exam for NERIST Degree module.
Eligibility required for NEE-I, NEE-II & NEE-III:

Eligibility for NEE-I:
Maximum Age: 19 years. (ST/SC/PD: 24 years and OBC/Female: 22 years).
Academic Qualification: Pass in Class 10 / Matriculation with Science and Mathematics.
Eligibility for NEE-II:
Maximum Age: 23 years. (ST/SC/PD: 28 years and OBC/Female: 26 years).
Academic Qualification:
NEE II is held for three different streams and academic qualification required for each is as below:
1.0 Diploma in Technology Stream: Passed Class-12 with PCM.
2.0 B.Sc. Degree in Forestry: Passed Class-12 with PCB.
3.0 Diploma in Technology Stream (Vocational): Passed Class-12 (Voc)/(PCM)/ITI/ NERIST Certificates.
Eligibility for NEE-III:
Maximum Age: 40 years. (ST/SC/PD: 45 years and OBC/Female: 43 years).
Academic Qualification:
3 years Diploma in the relevant branch of Engg. & Tech.
Number of seats through NEE 2015:
There are a total of 382 seats through NERIST Entrance Examination as given below:
The NERIST Entrance Examination Application Form would be available from 8th January, 2015 to 27th February, 2015. The application/exam fee is Rs. 750/= + bank transaction charges for GE/OBC & Rs. 400/= + bank transaction charges for ST/SC/PH.
