NDA 2015 Exam: Notification, Dates, Application Form and Eligibility

Notification for NDA 2015 exam  has been published by UPSC through Exam Notice: 11/2015-NDA-II for admission to NDA (National Defence Academy) & NA (Naval Academy). As per the notification, online submission of form has already began and the last date for  submission of NDA-II 2015 form is 23rd July, 2015. The exam would be conducted on 27th September, 2015 (Sunday).

Through this defence entrance exam, you can get admission to one of the two defence institutes:

1.0 NDA: 3-year course after passing which you get B. Sc./ B.Sc. (Computer) / BA degree from JNU, Delhi and commissioned in Army/Air Force/ Navy forces. 

2.0 NA:  4-year B. Tech. course after passing which you get commissioned in the executive or technical branches of the Indian Navy.

Why this exam is called NDA (I)? Because NDA exam is held twice every year by UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) - Exam (I) in mid-April and Exam (II) in mid-August. My previous blog post titled: NDA Exam – what & why? introduces you to NDA exam and why you should appear in it.

With above primer, let us find what are the important dates/schedule of NDA exam –II 2015.

Important dates for NDA-II 2015:
Date of notification: 20th June, 2015.
Last date of submission of  NDA-II 2015 form: 23rd July, 2015(23:59 HRS)
Date of NDA-II 2015 exam: 27th September, 2015.
Date for SSB Interview: January to April 2016.

NDA Exam Centres:

NDA exam is going to be held in following 41 city/towns all over India:
Agartala, Ahmedabad, Aizawl, Allahabad, Bangalore, Bareilly, Bhopal, Chandigarh, Chennai, Cuttack, Dehradun, Delhi, Dharwad, Dispur, Gangtok, Hyderabad, Imphal, Itanagar, Jaipur, Jammu, Jorhat, Kochi, Kohima, Kolkata, Lucknow, Madurai, Mumbai, Nagpur, Panaji(Goa), Patna, Portblair, Raipur, Ranchi, Sambalpur, Shillong, Shimla, Srinagar, Thiruvananthapuram, Tirupati, Udaipur, Vishakhapatnam.

Branch-wise vacancies for NDA-II 2015 exam:
Total vacancies to be filled through NDA-I 2015 is 375 (NDA: 320, Indian Naval Academy: 55).
Branch-wise vacancies for NDA is as follows:
Army: 208, Air Force: 70, Navy: 42.

Eligibility for NDA Exam:
Age eligibility for NDA exam:

Min.: 16½, M - 19 years. (born not earlier than 2nd January, 1997 & not later than 1st January, 2000)
Also only MALE, UNMARRIED candidates are allowed to appear in NDA exam.

Academic eligibility for NDA exam:

You need to pass Class-XII or equivalent examination for Army wings of NDA  (Physics & Maths in Class-XII is not a must.)
However for applying to the Air Force/Navy wings of NDA and for applying to Naval Academy, you must have studied Physics & Maths in your Class-XII.

If you are currently studying in Class-XII, you can also appear in the exam, provided you can provide the proof passing the exam by 24th June, 2016.

On top of above age and academic eligibility, you also need to have the minimum physical standard as required by UPSC.

NDA-II Exam 2015 Online Application Form:
You can apply only online for NDA 2015 exam. There is no offline application form.
How to apply online for NDA 2015 exam has been given very clearly and in detail in the notification.

In short, NDA 2015 Online form has two parts - Part-I & Part-II.
Part-I Registration process has 5 (FIVE) pages:
Page-1: Personal Information including Name , DOB , Father s name etc.
Page-2: Choose Examination Centre.
Page-3: Give preferences for Army Navy Air Force and Naval Academy.
Page-4: Displays all the data entered by you. It has option for you to edit these data.
Page-5: Displays the system generated unique Registration ID.

Part-II Registration Comprises Three Steps:
1. Fee Payment.
2. Uploading Of Photograph.
3. Uploading Of Signature.

The application form would not be available between 9th July 2015 (10:00 HRS ) to 13th July 2015 (10:00 HRS ). After this time, this form would be displayed only till  23rd July 2015.

Admit Card for NDA-I 2015 exam:
You have to download your admit card for NDA-II 2015 Exam from UPSC website, which would be available from 3 weeks before the exam date. If you have problem finding your admit card/ call letter, please contact UPSC either in person or over phone 011-23385271/011-23381125/011-23098543 on working days between 10.00 hrs. and 17.00 hrs. Most probably e-Admit card for NDA-I 2015 would be available in this webpage.
