SSC CGL 2015 Notification and Exam Schedule

As per the Staff Selection Commission exam calendar for this year, Notification for SSC Combined Graduate Level (CGL ) 2015 Exam is going to be published in the coming Saturday i.e. 14th March, 2015 in major national/regional news papers as well as in Employment News. This blog post hence is being made to let you know that this advertisement is being shortly published and also to help you apply for SSC CGL Exam 2015.  Last date to apply for this exam is 13th April and the Tier-I exam would be held on 14th & 21st June, 2015.

Introduction to SSC CGL Exam:

As you can find from the nomenclature, Combined Graduate Level (CGL ) Exam is a Graduate level exam and the exam is so called, as the minimum qualification required for this exam is Graduation from a recognized University and it is held Commonly for staff positions (Group “B” & “C” posts) in various central Govt. Ministries/Departments of India.

The CGL Exam is conducted every year in the months of April (Tier-I) & July (Tier-II) for recruitment of Inspector (Central Excise/ Income Tax, Assistant Enforcement Officer, Sub-Inspector (CBI), Divisional Accountant, Inspector of Posts, Auditor, Accountant, UDCs, Tax Assistants etc.

Number of post/vacancies in SSC CGL 2015:

The exact number of vacancies in CGL 2015 would be notified by SSC only later. The number of vacancies through CGL exam is increasing in recent years - 8584 (in CGL 2008), 8403 (in CGL 2010) & 12586 (in CGL 2011). So you can expect a similar number of vacancies in CGL 2015 around 10,000.

What were the category-wise vacancies? From the latest SSC Annual Report, I have prepared the following statistics on how many applies for CGL exam, how many are interviewed and how many ultimately selected for in last three Combined Graduate Level exams (i.e. 2011, 2010 & 2008):

Success rate in Combined Graduate Level (CGL ) Exam:
SSC CGL Exam is indeed competitive - only about 10-13 candidates per thousand who applied are ultimately selected, as you can find from following table, which give you an idea about  the percentage of how many were selected vis-a-vis applied in the last three Combined Graduate Level exam:

Pay-Scale/Salary for Group-B & C jobs in Central Govt through CGL:

Pay Scale being offered for Group-B & C positions in Central Govt through CGL is as follows:

Salary for Group B:
Rs.5400, Rs.4800, Rs.4600 and Rs.4200 in the scale of pay of Rs.9300 – 34800 in Pay Band-2.

Salary for Group C:
Rs.2800, Rs.2400, Rs.2000, Rs.1900 and Rs.1800 in the scale of pay of Rs.5200-20200 in Pay Band-1.

Eligibility for SSC CGL Exam:

Age Eligibility: (as on 01.01.2015)

Min: 18 yrs, Max: 27 yrs (DOB not earlier than 02.01.1988 & not later than 01.01.1997) except following:

Statistical Investigator Gr.II: Max 26 Years. (DOB not earlier than 02.01.1989)
Assistant/Sub Inspector in CBI: 20-27 years. (DOB not earlier than 02.01.1988 and not later than 01.01.1995)

Academic Qualification Eligibility:
Graduation from a recognized University or equivalent, except for following two posts:

For Compiler : Bachelors Degree with Economics/Statistics/Maths as compulsory or Elective subject.

For Statistical Investigator Grade – II : Bachelors Degree with Statistics as one of the main subjects OR Bachelors Degree with Mathematics (with Statistics as a papers studied in one year/two year/all three year as the case may be) as one of the main subjects. OR Bachelors Degree with Economics (with Statistics as a paper studied in one year/two years/all the three years as the case may be) as one of the main subjects. OR Bachelors Degree with Commerce (with Statistics as a paper studied in one year/two years/all the three years as the case may be) as one of the main subjects.

SSC CGL Exam Selection Process:

The selection process for the SSC HS Level Exam consists of a three Tier selection process: Tier-I (Prelims) consists of 200 mark written test.
