NTPC Diploma Trainee Recruitment Exam 2013 is scheduled to be held on 17th November, 2013 and this article is being written to help you prepare for this written selection test. It tells you what is the pattern of NTPC Diploma Trainee Exam and provides you the Sample Papers & Prep Books for the same. In a previous blog post of mine titled: NTPC Diploma Trainee Recruitment 2013: Notification, Eligibility & Forms, I had posted info on how to apply for this recruitment. 

With this initials, let us now find what is the exam pattern of NTPC Diploma Trainee Exam.

NTPC Diploma Trainee Exam Pattern:

NTPC written exam for selection of Diploma Trainees consists of 120 questions to be answered in 120 minutes (i.e. 2-hour). The exam consists of two parts:

Part-I: Subject Knowledge Test
This is specific to your discipline Civil/ Mechanical/ Electrical/ Instrumentation/ Electronics Engineering.

Part-I: Aptitude Test.
Common for all disciplines. You can find the section-wise pattern of NTPC Diploma Trainee Exam in the table at right.

There is negative marking in this NTPC exam: 1/4th mark for each wrong answer!

NTPC Diploma Trainee Exam Syllabus:

NTPC has not prescribed any syllabus for the exam - as can be expected for any national level competitive exam. Therefore do not waste your time searching for NTPC Diploma Trainee Exam Syllabus.

Sample Paper for NTPC Diploma Trainee Exam:

While searching for the prep materials on the net for NTPC Diploma Trainee Written Exam, I found that materials are scarce, almost non-existent. Also whatever materials I could find were not authentic.

However, I could find one sample paper for Diploma Trainee Written Exam in BHEL career website. This model paper has at least 2 questions for each section of Diploma Trainee Exam, the pattern of which is identical to NTPC exam.
