National Insurance Company (NIC) Ltd. has advertised recruitment notification 2013 few days back for a huge recruitment of 2600 Insurance Assistants for all the four Public Sector General Insurance Companies of India - National, Oriental, New India & United India Insurance. As per the notification, submission of Online form/registration has already started from 18th May 2013 and the last date for registration of online application is 8th June 2013. Insurance Assistant Common Written Exam 2013 is scheduled to be held on 14th/21st July 2013.

What are General Insurance Companies of India:
Four Public Sector General Insurance Companies of India are as below:
1.0 National Insurance Co. Ltd
2.0 Oriental Insurance Co. Ltd
3.0 New India Assurance Co. Ltd
4.0 United India Insurance Co. Ltd
Employee strength in these four PSU Insurance Companies together is huge: 65651. They have presence in almost every part of India with 6116 offices/business centers. In last FY (2012-13), total Premium Income generated by these four insurance companies together is about Rs.35000 crores.
Insurance Assistant Common Written Exam 2013?
Yes, this is for the first time all the 4 General Insurance Companies of India are recruiting insurance assistants through a common written exam. Prior to this, all of them used to conduct their own exam separately. So this is a big opportunity for you to get the much coveted insurance assistants job through a single exam.
But you should note that only the written exam part has been made common – you still have to appear for Interview & Computer Proficiency Test for each insurance company separately. National Insurance Company Ltd. (NIC) is coordinating the Insurance Assistant Exam 2013 for all the four companies.
General Insurance Assistant Vacancy 2013:
As told, there are a total of 2600 Assistant position vacancies. You can find the insurance company-wise, category-wise vacancies in the table at right. Company-wise, State-wise, Category-wise vacancies can be found in page 2-5 of the notification.
Why the State-wise vacancy is important is that you can apply only for vacancies of a particular state only and have to appear in one of the exam centers of that state. In addition, you should know the regional language of that state, as it is a pre-recruitment eligibility.
Insurance Assistants Salary:
The General Insurance Companies are offering Insurance Assistants salary in the Pay-Scale: 7640-440(1)-8080-480(2)-9040-540(5)-11740-625(2)-12990-760(3)-15270-790(2)-16850-840(5)-21050. With this pay-scale, total salary for an Insurance Assistant in a metro is Rs.15000/- per month approximately.
Selection Process for Insurance Assistants:
The selection process for Insurance Assistant consists of the common recruitment exam, followed by a Computer Proficiency Test and than Interview.
The written exam consists of a 2-hour, 250 marks Objective type question paper which has test sections: Reasoning, Computer Knowledge, English Language, General Awareness & Numerical Ability. Eligibility for Insurance Assistants in General Insurance Companies:
Age eligibility: (as on 30th June 2013)
Minimum Age: 18 years; Maximum Age: 28 years. DOB not earlier than 1st July 1985 and not later than 30th June 1995 (both days inclusive). Age relaxations exists as per Govt. rule.
Academic Qualification eligibility:
Graduate from a recognized University OR Min 60% marks in Class-XII (50% for Ex-servicemen, SC/ST/PWD)
In addition, knowledge of regional language (i.e. Language of the State of Recruitment) is essential.
General Insurance Assistant Recruitment 2013 Online form:
There is no offline application for this recruitment. You have to apply through online application form only.
How to apply online is given clearly in section “13. How to apply” in page: 9 of the notification. The application fee is to be submitted in SBI branch on or before 12th June 2013.
General Insurance Assistant Exam 2013 Call letter:
You have to download your call letter for Insurance Assistant Exam 2013 from this website – keep checking it for further updates. The call letter for Insurance Assistant Exam 2013 has to be downloaded from 7 days prior to exam i.e. from 7th July 2013 onward.
