SSC has just yesterday issued Prasar Bharati Combined Recruitment Notification 2013 for 1290 Engineering Assistant and 340 Technicians. This recruitment is being done so as to fill-up the vacancies of Engineering Assistant and Technicians in two Prasar Bharati organisations: AIR (All India Radio) & DD (Doordarshan). As per the recruitment notification, submission of of online form has already began from yesterday and the last date to submit application form for SSC Prasar Bharati Recruitment 2013 is 22nd March,2013. SSC Prasar Bharati Exam  2013 would be held on 26th May 2013.

This blog post tries to summarize this notification by quoting the relevant information, so that even the future Prasar Bharati Examinees can know about what are the Eligibility & how to apply for SSC Prasar Bharati Exam  2013.

Although not much information is available on the net for SSC Prasar Bharati recruitment exam for Engineering Assistants & Technicians, in a subsequent blog post titled: SSC Prasar Bharati Exam Pattern, Syllabus, Papers & Books,  I would try to give you the study materials for this Exam.

Let us begin by knowing what is Prasar Bharati.

What is Prasar Bharati:

Prasar Bharati (formed on 23.11.1997) is the Public Service Broadcaster of the country with two media units under its ambit: All India Radio (AIR) and Doordarshan (DD). Previously AIR & DD were under the Ministry of I&B and now both of them has become constituents of Prasar Bharati.

All India Radio (AIR), is the national radio broadcaster of India with Doordarshan (DD), the national television broadcaster being its sister concern. Both of these entities are divisions of Prasar Bharati - the India's largest public broadcaster.

From its humble beginning in 1936, AIR has grown into a huge organisation with nation-wide network of 326 broadcasting centres. Today AIR covers 91.79% of the national area and serves 99.14% of the people in the largest democracy of the world.

Doordarshan on the other hand began as a part of All India Radio in 1965. But it took to its wing post 1982 Asian Games. Today 90% of the population can receive Doordarshan programmes through a network of nearly 1400 terrestrial transmitters and about 46 Doordarshan studios.

SSC Prasar Bharati Vacancy 2013:

There are a total of 1290 Engineering Assistant vacancies in AIR & DD with zone-wise, category-wise breakup as given in the table at right.

Similarly there are a total of 340 Technician vacancies  in AIR & DD, with zone-wise, category-wise breakup as given in the table at left.

Salary for Prasar Bharati Engineering Assistant & Technicians:

Prasar Bharati is offering salary in the pay scale: Rs.9300--Rs.34800/-(plus Grade Pay 4200/-) in Pay Band-2 for the Engineering Assistant positions.

For the Technician positions, salary offered by Prasar Bharati is in the pay scale: Rs.5,200--Rs.20,200/-(plus Grade Pay 2400/-) in Pay Band-1.

Eligibility for Prasar Bharati Engineering Assistant positions::

Age Eligibility: (as on 01/01/2013)

Max: 30 yrs.

Academic Qualification Eligibility:

3-years Diploma in Radio/ Telecommunication/ Electrical/Electronics/ Information Technology/ Electronics and Communication Engineering + 1-year experience in the related field

OR Degree with Physics as one of the subjects + 1-year experience in the related field.

OR Degree in Engineering in the relevant field (as mentioned above for Diploma)
Qualifications should be from a recognized University/Institute.

Desirable: Knowledge of Wireless or Radio Engineering.

Eligibility for Prasar Bharati Technician positions:

Age Eligibility: (as on 01/01/2013)

Min: 18 years, Max: 25 yrs.

Academic Qualification Eligibility:

Class-XII pass from a recognized Board + 2 years Diploma in Electronics/Telecommunication Engineering from a recognized University/Institute.

Selection Process for Prasar Bharati Engineering Assistant & Technician positions:
Selection Process for Prasar Bharati Combined Recruitment Exam 2013 consists of a 400 mark written exam (200 marks Objective type Paper & 200 marks Descriptive type Paper) followed by 100 mark Interview for Engineering Assistant position. Prasar Bharati Exam 2013 Application Fee:

There is no application fee for SC/ST /Ex-Servicemen/PH and all women candidates.
For others, the application fee is Rs. 200/- to be paid through SBI either in the form of Challan or net banking.

Prasar Bharati Exam 2013 Online Form:

You can apply for these Prasar Bharati (i.e. AIR & DD) Engineering Assistant & Technician positions only through Online Form. There is no Offline application form.

Prasar Bharati Exam 2013 Admit Card:

You are supposed to receive Admit card (also called as Admission Certificates) for Prasar Bharati Combined Recruitment Exam 2013 from the respective SSC regional office 2-weeks before exam date i.e. you should receive the admit card by around 12th May, 2013. You can also download the Prasar Bharati Exam 2013 Admit Card from the the respective SSC regional office.

If you have neither received the admit card nor you could download the Prasar Bharati Exam 2013 Admit Card one week before exam date (say around 19th May, 2013), please contact the concerned SSC Regional Office with details such as Registration ID, Transaction ID for the duplicate admit card.

Part I Registration: 23.2.2013 to 20.3.2013 (5.00PM).
Part II Registration: 23.2.2013 to 22.3.2013 ( 5.00PM).
Issue of Admit card for SSC Prasar Bharati Exam 2013: Two weeks before exam - approx 12th May .

Date of SSC Prasar Bharati Exam 2013: 26th May 2013.
