What is Military Nursing Service (MNS)
Military Nursing Service was founded as Army Nursing Service in 1881 as a part of the British Army. In more than 130 years of its existence, MNS has undergone many transformations and is now an integral part of the Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS). AFMS also consists of Army Medical Corps (AMC) and Army Dental Corps (ADC) besides Military Nursing Service (MNS).

Military Nursing Service Vacancy 2012:
As said, there are 200 vacancies of Female Nursing Officers in Short Service Commission (SSC). On being selected, the nursing officers are employed for 5 years and the same can be extended to 14 years maximum.
Salary for Nursing Officers in MNS:
Military Nursing Service offers Nursing Officers salary in the pay-scale of Lieutenant with the monthly Basic
Pay of Rs 15,600 + Grade Pay Rs 5,400/- +Military Service Pay- Rs 4,200/-+ DA and other Allowance. With this pay-scale, CTC for a Lieutenant in Indian army is Rs.65,000/- per month approx.
Eligibility for Nursing Officers in Military Nursing Service:
Age Eligibility: DOB between 07 Mar 1978 and 31 Dec 1992 (both days inclusive).
Academic Qualification Eligibility: Should have passed PG/PB B Sc/B Sc Nursing from INC recognized University and be a registered Nurse and Midwife from a State Nursing Council.
MNS Nursing Officers Selection Process :
Selection process of Nursing Officers in Military Nursing Service consists of a written test to be conducted at Delhi during the second week of December 2012. Those selected in the MNS Nursing Officers written exam would be called for interview.
