Indian Army has recently issued recruitment notification for 117th Technical Graduate Course (TGC) - July 2013 batch. Online submission of form for the same has started from 15th November and the last date to apply online is 14th December, 2012. This notification has been published in major national/regional dailies.

This blog article of mine throws light on the important information on Indian Army TGC, by quoting the same from the above notification and also tells you how to prepare for the same.

First what is Indian Army TGC:

Indian Army Technical Graduate Course (TGC) is one of the avenues by which the technical graduates can join the coveted Indian Army job. Indian Army conducts SSB Interview twice every year in the month of Oct/Nov (for January batch) & Apr/May (for July batch), recruitment notification for which is published in major national dailies as well as in Employment News in May/Jun and Nov/Dec respectively.

On being selected for Indian Army TGC (i.e. subsequent to SSB Interview & medical exam), you would undergo 1-year training in Indian Military Academy, Dehradun during which you would be paid stipend – Rs. 21,000/- p.m. On successful completion of the TGC training period, you are recruited as a Lieutenant in Indian Army with salary in Pay-scale of Rs. 15,600-39,100 with grade pay: 5400 and MSP: 6000. With this pay-scale, CTC for a Lieutenant in Indian army is Rs.65,000/- per month approx.

Indian Army TGC Vacancy - July 2013 batch:

There are 60 total vacancies in July 2013 batch as per this notification, with Branch-wise vacancies as below:

1. Civil (including Mining/ Construction): 19
2. Electrical: 11
3. Mechanical (including Industrial/Industrial Engg & Management): 07
4. Production (Including Manafacturing): 02
5. Electronics (including Electronics & Instrumentation) 08
6. Communication /Telecommunication (Including ECE /Electronics & Communication): 06
7.Architecture/Building Constr Technology: 03
8. Computer Science & Engg/ Computer Science/M.Sc(Computer): 02
9. Bio - Tech/ Food Tech / Bio - Medical Engg / Chemical Engg: 02

TGC-117 For Army Education Corps (Men):

Post Graduate Degree(MA) in English/ Economics/ History/Geography/Music/ Political Science: 08
Post Graduate Degree M.Sc in Physics/Maths: 04
Post Graduate Degree (MA) in Chinese, Tibetan, Burmese, Pushto,Dari or Arabic: 06

TGC (Military Farms):
Degree in Dairying or Degree in Agriculture: 06 (Agriculture:03 & Dairy: 03)

Eligibility for Indian Army TGC:

Age eligibility: (Age as on commencement of course – i.e. 1st July, 2013)

For Engineering Graduates - 20 to 27 years (DOB: 2nd July 1986 to 1st July, 1993).

For AEC - 23 to 27 years (DOB: 2nd July 1986 to 1st July, 1990).

For Military Farms - 20 to 27 years (DOB: 2nd July 1986 to 1st July, 1993).

Academic Qualification eligibility:

For Engineers: You should be a engineering graduate. Final Year Engineering Degree Students can also apply, but they have to submit the proof of possessing the qualification within 12 weeks of commencement of TGC course at IMA.

For Army Education Corps: MA/M.Sc. Degree in 1st or 2nd division in English/Economics/ History/Music/Geography/Political Science/Physics & Math can apply.

For Military Farm: Candidate having degree in Dairying/ Agriculture.

The qualification should be from a recognized university.

In addition to above eligibility, you have to posses the physical standard as given in section “(c) physical standard” of the Notification.

Important dates for Indian Army TGC Recruitment 2013:

Date of notification: 30th October, 2012.

Online submission of form: 15th November, 2012

Last date to apply online: 14th December, 2012

Last Date for receipt of application print-out at New Delhi: 31st December, 2012.
Last Date for receipt of offline forms (for AEC & Military Farms) : 20th November, 2012.

Date of SSB Interview for Indian Army TGC 2013: February/March 2013.

Indian Army TGC Recruitment 2013 Application Form:

You have to apply only online for Indian Army Technical Graduate Course 2013. There is no offline form. Post submission of the online form, you have to take printout of the submitted form and send the same to following address so as to reach before 31st December, 2012:

Directorate General of Recruiting (Rtg-6), TGC, Sectlon, West Block-III, R.K. Puram, New Delhi-110066.

For the non-engineering vacancies (i.e. for AEC & Military Farm), you have to apply through offline form.

How to prepare for Indian Army TGC Recruitment 2013:
As you have found out in the Notification, there is no written test for Indian Army TGC Recruitment.
