Border Security Force (BSF) recruitment notification 2012-2013 has just been published vide advertisement no.: A.5/53/Pers(Rectt)/Min.Staff/BSF/2012 for 82 Assistant Sub Inspector (Stenographer) and 304 Head Constables (Ministerial) positions.

What is BSF:
Established on 1st December, 1965, Border Security Force is one of the prime Central Armed Police Forces with the role to guard India's international borders during peacetime and also to prevent transnational crime.
It is one of the world's largest border patrol forces with a strength of 240,000 personnel in 186 battalions, including women battalions. The rank and structure in Border Security Force is given in the table at right.

Salary for ASI/HC in BSF:
Salary for BSF Assistant Sub Inspector:
Rs. 11,360/= in Pay scale: Rs. 5200 - 20,200/= with grade pay Rs. 2,800/=.
Salary for BSF Head Constables:
Rs. 9,910/= in Pay scale: Rs. 5200 - 20,200/= with grade pay Rs. 2,400/=.
Selection Process for ASI/HC in BSF:
Selection process for Assistant Sub Inspector (Steno) & Head Constables (Ministerial) consists of two phases:
Phase 1.0
Written Exam: Consists of a 1 hour-45 minutes Objective type question paper of 100 marks. You can find more about this in my blog article titled: ASI (Steno) & HC (Min).
Phase 2.0
1.0 PST (Physical measurement).
2.0 Shorthand test: for ASI (Steno) only.
3.0 Typing speed test: for Head Constables (Ministerial) only.
4.0 Documentation.
5.0 Medical Examnication.
BSF ASI/HC Vacancy 2012
BSF ASI (Steno)/HC (Ministerial) Eligibility:
Age eligibility: Min 18 & Max 25 years. Age relaxations exists as per Govt rule.
Academic Qualification eligibility:
10+2 or Intermediate or its equivalent OR
Matriculation with 3-year diploma in Sceretarial Practice or Modern Office Practice or Commercial practice from a recognized board of Technical education
Typing/Shorthand eligibility:
For ASI (Steno): Shorthand 70 WPM in English or in Hindi for 10 minutes.
Transcribe of dictation in English in 60 minutes or Transcribe of dictation in Hindi in 75 minutes on computer.
Typing/Shorthand eligibility:
For ASI (Steno): Shorthand 70 WPM in English or in Hindi for 10 minutes.
Transcribe of dictation in English in 60 minutes or Transcribe of dictation in Hindi in 75 minutes on computer.
For Head Constable (Ministerial): Typing speed 30 WPM (i.e. 9000 KDPH) in English or 25 WPM (i.e. 7500 KDPH) in Hindi on computer. Time: 10 minutes.
In addition to the above age & educational qualification eligibility, you should possess the Physical Standard as given in section "(c) Physical Standard for ASI (Steno) & HC (Min)" in page-2 of the Notification.
