ASRB NET 2012 Exam Notification has come out few days back and as per this notification, the ASRB NET 2012 exam would be held on 20th January, 2013. Last date for submission of application form is 20.11.2012.
While this blog post aims to brief you about the important aspects about the eligibility & forms for ASRB NET 2012 by quoting the information from the notification, a follow-up article titled: ASRB NET Exam Pattern, Sample Papers & Books would provide you the prep material for this exam.
But first learn what is ASRB NET.
What is ASRB NET:
ASRB (Agricultural Scientists Recruitment Board), established in 1973, is a recruitment agency of ICAR, which conducts recruitment tests for various scientist positions in ICAR (Indian Council of Agricultural Research), the apex body in India for coordinating, guiding and managing research and education in agriculture.
ASRB conducts NET (National Eligibility Test) every year for determining the eligibility for Lecturer / Assistant Professor in Indian Agricultural Universities. ASRB NET is somewhat akin to NET conducted by UGC, but the difference is ASRB NET is only for Agricultural subjects. ASRB NET 2012 is being conducted for 55 Agricultural disciplines.
ASRB NET is only a test for determining the eligibility and is not a recruitment test by itself. After you qualify in ASRB NET, when any agricultural university notifies about Lecturer / Assistant Professor vacancies, you have to apply for the same and appear in the selection process of that university (say Interview etc.)
ASRB NET 2012 Important Dates:
Date of ASRB NET 2012 notification: 11th October, 2012.
Last date of submission of form: 20th November, 2012 (For remote areas: 04.12.2012)
Exam Date of ASRB NET 2012: 20th January, 2013.
ASRB NET 2012 Eligibility:
Age Eligibility: (as on 01.08.2012)
Minimum 21 years. There is no upper age limit.
Academic Qualification Eligibility: (as on 01.08.2012)
Minimum Master’s degree or equivalent in the 55 concerned discipline, as given in Annexure-II in page 6-9 of the Notification.
Maximum number of attempts in ASRB NET:
You can appear in ASRB NET for a maximum of 5 attempts. But if you had appeared in ASRB NET earlier than 2012, same will not be taken into account for counting the number of attempts. That is, number of attempts in ASRB NET would be counted from this year onwards.
ASRB NET Exam Pattern:
ARB NET consists of a single paper which has 150 objective type questions (MCQ), each question carrying 1 mark (thus total 150 marks), which has to be answered in .2 hours. More about it with prep materials in my subsequent blog post titled: ASRB NET Exam Pattern, Sample Papers & Books.
ASRB NET 2012 Exam Centres:
ASRB NET 2012 would be conducted in the exam centres located at following 33 city/towns all across India:
Anand, Bangaluru, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Bikaner, Chennai, Cochin, Coimbatore, Dehradun, Delhi, Dharwad, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Imphal, Izatnagar, Jabalpur, Jammu, Junagadh, Karnal, Kolkata, Lucknow, Ludhiana, Mumbai, Nagpur, Palampur, Patna, Port-Blair, Raipur, Ranchi, Srinagar, Tirupati, Udaipur, Varanasi.
ASRB NET 2012 Application Form:
You can find the ASRB NET 2012 Exam Application Form in page 13/14 (i.e. last pages) of ASRB NET 2012 Notification.
ASRB NET 2012 Application Fee is Rs. 1000/= for General, Rs. 500/= for OBC (Non creamy layer) & Rs. 250/= for the rest (i.e. SC/ST/PC). This fee has to be made in the form of a DD in favour of Secretary, A.S.R.B. and payable at New Delhi.
