What is an IGNOU MBA program
You can do the IGNOU MBA programs in following four management streams:
Human Resource Management (HRM).
Financial Management (FM).
Operations Management (OM).
Marketing Management (MM).
IGNOU MBA program is structured into 4 phases comprising of 21 courses:
Phase I (11 Courses): Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDIM).
Phase II (5 Courses): The Specialization Diploma Programs (PGSDM).
Phase III (3 Courses): The Integrative Course. (2 compulsory, 1 elective course)

The maximum duration of the MBA Program is 8 years, within which you have to clear all these 21 courses. And the minimum duration of the IGNOU MBA Program is 2 ½ years (i.e. 5 semesters).
After completion of the courses given in each phase, you would receive the respective certificates as below:
DIM(Diploma in Management):
On completion of first 7 courses out of 11 PGDIM courses.
PGDIM (Post Graduation in Diploma in Management):
On completion of remaining four PGDIM courses after DIM.
PGSDM (Post Graduate Specialization Diploma in Management):
On completion of Phase II i.e. five specialization courses after PGDIM.
MBA:
On completion of all 21 courses.
Thus, you can get the IGNOU management certifications as per above structure and continue for the next certification or leave the program at any stage.
Is IGNOU MBA program recognized? How good is an IGNOU MBA?
IGNOU MBA & MCA degrees are recognized by AICTE and is treated as par with other MBA/MCA programs awarded by Association of Indian Universities (AIU). Hence you should have no hesitation in going for an MBA program from IGNOU.
However, there is always that question of a bias (in the minds of employer’s especially private organizations) towards a fulltime/campus course compared to a part-time/distance course and IGNOU MBA program is no exception. But please bear it in mind that having an MBA degree is better than not having it, so you should have it, rather than not having and wishing to have one.
If you are in total confusion and tend to think that IGNOU MBA would be a wastage, than please go through these feed back in Rediff.com & Entrance-exam.net. These feedback would clear your mind to a great extent.
In short, IGNOU MBA would be great for any Govt. organizations (including PSUs), but for private sector organizations, there is a little confusion.
