The written test conducted at IAF FTS test venue is as follows:
For Aeronautical Engineering (Electronic/Mechanical): Engineering Knowledge Test – EKT.
There are two papers, both having objective type (multiple choice) questions:
Paper -I: General Engineering questions: 40 questions.

The specialized papers (Paper-II) are in Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautical engineering, Electronics and Communication engineering, Electrical and Instrumentation engineering and Computer Engineering.
Above 75 questions are to be answered in 60 minutes. You need to pass in both General and Specialist papers to qualify for AFSB interview.
For Meteorological Branch: Common Entrance Test-CET.

After clearing EKT (if you appeared in Aeronautical Engineering) or CET (if you appeared in Meteorological branches), you need to undergo a further test called Phase-I Test, which is a psychological test to test your personality. Phase-I Test consists of Picture perception Test (You would be shown a Picture on which you would be asked to write a story) and Group Discussion Test.
In most cases, the result of IAF FTS is declared on the day of event only. However, if it is not declared, you would be intimated about your selection through a call letter to report to any one of the Air Force Selection Boards located at Dehradun, Varanasi or Mysore.
An All India Merit List is compiled on the basis of your performance at the AFSB and subject to being medically fit. Based on the vacancies available, Air HQ would issue joining instructions to join Air Force Academy for the training.
