SSC Junior Engineer exam pattern/format:
Selection process of SSC Junior Engineers recruitment consists of two stages: a 500 mark written test, followed by a 100 mark Interview for those shortlisted in the written test.
The SSC JE Written exam consists of two papers. Subject of each paper along with mark distribution is given below:
Paper 1: Objective type question paper: 200 marks/ 2 hour duration (10.00 AM -12.00 Noon).
Paper 2: Descriptive type question paper: 300 marks/ 2 hour duration (2.00 PM - 4.00 P.M).
As you can find above, engineering paper (both objective as well as descriptive) carries the maximum mark - 400 mark out of 500 marks, although yous should not neglect the General Intelligence, Reasoning & General Awareness paper as the 100 marks can make or mar your chances of getting the Junior Engineers job.
What is the success rate in SSC JE Exam and how many are qualified? To answer this query which comes to everyone's mind, I analysed the result published by SSC for for JE Exam 2012 for Paper-I & Paper-II.
From the analysis, I am presenting you the figures at left of the number of candidates who registered/appeared/qualified in SSC JE Exam 2012 so that you can have a good idea.
As you can see from the table, only 55% of those who registers for this exam actually appears in the exam. Almost 7% of candidates who appears qualifies in Paper-I and about 4% actually clears both the papers of SSC for JE Exam.

Another most important question is : How much mark should you score in the SSC JE Exam to qualify?
Well, the SSC decides upon the cut-off mark for selection of candidates in the written test on the relative performance of all the candidates and hence the actual cut-off mark to be called for interview can be known only when the result is declared.
But however, you can have some idea about the SSC JE Exam cut-off from the results of SSC JE Exam conducted on 8.4.2012, which have been collected again from SSC results Paper-I & Paper-II.
