Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) recruitment notification 2014 has been advertised recently for a huge vacancy of  937 teachers: 514 PGT (Post Graduate Teachers) and 423 TGT (Trained Graduate Teachers). What is Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV):

JNV (Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas) are co-educational, fully residential schools up to Class-XII and are located mainly in rural areas. A brain child of ex-Prime Minister P. V. Narasimha Rao, the first JNV was established in 1985. At present there are 593 JNV disseminating education throughout the length and breadth of country in all states except Tamil Nadu.

JNV are managed by Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti which is an autonomous organization under Ministry of HRD with eight regional offices at Bhopal, Chandigarh, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Lucknow, Patna, Pune & Shillong.

Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Vacancy 2014:

As said, there are a total of 937 teacher vacancies: 514 PGT (Post Graduate Teachers) and 423 TGT (Trained Graduate Teachers). You can find the subject-wise break-up of these vacancies in the table at right.

Salary for Navodaya Teachers :

NVS offers the teachers salary in following Pay scales:

Salary for PGT:  Pay-scale Rs. 9300-34800 plus Grade Pay Rs. 4800.
Salary for TGT:  Pay-scale Rs. 9300-34800 plus Grade Pay Rs.4600.

In addition to this salary, teachers are entitled to draw admissible allowance besides 10% special pay for performing additional residential duties.

Selection process  for Navodaya Teachers :

Selection process for Navodaya Teachers consists of a written test to be held in 22 city/towns all over India as given below. The written test is an Objective type test in the areas of General Aptitude, Language Proficiency & Subject specialization. With total mark 240, you have to complete it within 3 hours. Navodaya PGT Exam centre cities:

The written exam would be conducted in following city/towns:

Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Bhopal, Bhubaneshwer, Chandigarh, Chennai, Dehradun, Delhi, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Imphal, Jaipur , Jammu, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Patna, Raipur, Ranchi, Shimla, Srinagar, Thiruvananthapuran.

Eligibility for Navodaya PGT Teachers:

Eligibility required for recruitment as Navodaya Teachers are as follows:

Age: Max 40 years as on 31.01.2014. Relaxations exists as per Govt rule.

Academic Qualification (Essential) Eligibility:

1.0 Min. 50% marks aggregate in 2-year Integrated Post Graduate M.Sc. Course from Regional College of Education of NCERT in the concerned subject OR Master’s Degree from a recognized university in the subjects as given in “ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS” in page-3 of the notification.

2.0 B.Ed. or equivalent qualification from a recognized University.

3.0 Proficiency in Teaching in Hindi and English languages.

Desirable Qualifications:

(a) Experience of working as TGT in a recognized institution in the concerned subject.

(b) Experience of working in a residential school.

(c) Knowledge of Computer application

Eligibility for Navodaya TGT Teachers:

Age Eligibility:

Max 35 years as on 31.01.2014. Relaxations exists as per Govt rule.

Essential Qualifications:

1.0 Four years integrated degree course of Regional College of Education of NCERT with at least 50% marks in the concerned subject as well as in the aggregate OR A Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent from a recognized University with 50% marks or above in aggregate as well as in the relevant subject as given in page-4 of the notification.
2.0 B.Ed. or equivalent from a recognized University.
3.0 Competence to teach through English and Hindi/concerned Regional language as the case may be.
4.0 Should pass Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) conducted by CBSE.

Desirable Qualifications:

1 Experience of working in a residential school.

2. Knowledge of Computer application.
