Without wasting time further, let us find what is the pattern/format of FCS Punjab Food Inspector Exam.
Punjab Food Inspector Exam 2013 Pattern/Format:
FCS Punjab Food Inspector Exam consists of single paper of 150 marks with duration of 150 minutes. The question paper contains 150 questions from 6 test sections as given in the table at right.
Qualifying Cut-off mark is 35% of the total mark i.e. 53 (to be precise: 52.5). You will need to score this mark, as only than you would get a place in the merit list. However, please note that you should be in the top 461 in the merit list to get the Food Inspectors job offer from FCS Punjab. How? Because recruitment for these vacancies would be done based on the Food Inspector Exam 2013 only.
Please beware of the negative marking in this exam: 0.25 marks for every wrong answer. So make your guess answers wisely!
If you look closely in the pattern of exam for FCS Punjab Food Inspector, you would find that maximum mark has been allotted to section "Test of Reasoning", while the two language papers carries the least marks. So you must base your preparation accordingly.
This pattern of exam is very similar to IBPS CWE Clerk Exam, which has all the five test sections of FCS Punjab Food Inspector Exam excepting the Punjabi language test section. You can find a comparative analysis of the pattern of two exams in the table at left.
Even the eligibility required for both the exams are similar - Graduation in any discipline. Hence you can use the test prep materials for IBPS CWE Clerk Exam as the test prep materials for the FCS Punjab Food Inspector Exam. Why I am saying this is very simple: test prep materials available on the net for Punjab FCS Food Inspector Exam is very rare and hence you should use the sample papers and prep books of a similar exam to prepare for the FCS Punjab Food Inspector Exam.

FCS Punjab Food Inspector Exam Syllabus:
FCS Punjab has not prescribed any syllabus for its Food Inspector Exam. Its notification says following about the syllabus:
"There is no prescribed syllabus/book for the examination but the questions will be comparable to any other national/state level examination of similar nature."
Govt of AP in such an exam had given its syllabus as you can find the same here - but please mind that there are lot of dissimilarity in between Punjab FCS Exam & AP Food Inspector Exam. I think better option would be to use the route of IBPS CWE Clerk exam to prepare for this exam."There is no prescribed syllabus/book for the examination but the questions will be comparable to any other national/state level examination of similar nature."
