CPF Exam Statistics- How tough it is:
How tough is CPF Exam? How many candidates appear for CPF exam and how many gets selected? To answer this question I went through the most recent UPSC Annual reports and the findings are as below:
As you can see from the statistics at right – the CPF exam is indeed competitive: only about 2.0 persons per hundred who appeared in the CPF written exam gets to appear in Interview. But once if you reach the Interview stage, the prospect is much brighter: close to 45 per hundred who appears in the interview is selected. CAT 2012 is being coordinated by IIM-Kozhikode. Prometric shall again conduct this years CAT exam (on behalf of IIM’s).
For those uninitiated in to CAT, let us start with a small write up on what is CAT.
What is CAT:
CAT (Common Admission Test) is the most competitive management entrance exam in India and is one of the toughest in the whole world. You might already be knowing this, but let me tell you again that CAT enables you to get admission to not only thirteen famed IIMs (Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Calcutta, Indore, Kashipur, Kozhikode, Lucknow, Raipur, Ranchi, Rohtak, Shillong, Tiruchirappalli, Udaipur), but more than 130 top-rung management institutes in India. In addition to these institutes which has registered for using the CAT scores, there are a lot of other good management institutes, which uses the CAT scores in their admission process.
For the fresh CAT examinees, let me tell you that CAT is only the first step for admissions to these management institutes. CAT scores are used to shortlist the candidates for further selection processes (like GD & Interview), the admission process of each management institutes varying from one another.
CAT is supposed to be a very competitive exam but than, there is a good news for you - although number of IIMs have increased (nine in CAT 2010, thirteen in CAT 2011), resulting in increased number of IIM seats (1800 in CAT 2008, 1950 in CAT 2009, almost 2600 in CAT 2010), number of candidates appearing in CAT is reducing from last 3 years (2.5 lakh in CAT 2008, 2.15 lakh in CAT 2009, 1.86 lakh in CAT 2010), although in CAT 2011 it marginally increased to 2.05 lakhs. So you have fewer number of competitor, is not that a good news?

IB (Intelligence Bureau) ACIO (Assistant Central Intelligence Officer) Exam 2012 is still some time off - scheduled to be held on 23rd September, 2012. IB ACIO Exam Pattern:
Selection process for Assistant Central Intelligence Officers in Intelligence Bureau consists of a written exam followed by Interview.
The written exam consists of both objective type (Paper-I) & descriptive type questions (Paper-II).
The Objective type (multiple choice) question would be set from following test sections:
1.0 General awareness.

3.0 Test of reasoning.
4.0 Mathematical aptitude.
Descriptive type questions would be set for Test English language (Essay & Précis writing). Both objective & descriptive type examinations will be held in a single session for 1 hour and 40 minutes.
Other than above, ACIO exam notification has not said anything about the number of questions in each area and also what would be the mark distribution.
Sample/Previous years Exam papers of IB ACIO Exam:
I am always skeptical about the sample or old exam papers of recruitment exams posted on the net. The reason being there is no authenticity about the exam papers and whatever papers are posted, they are not of high quality. Therefore I always tell examinees to go for books instead of online sample papers as preparation material, as book authors are at least accountable for the accuracy of information published.
IB ACIO Exam papers are no exception - When I searched on the net for exam papers of this exam, I came across a lot of websites/blogs posting bogus links on paper download. However I could find following previous years paper of IB ACIO Exam useful:
This IB exam paper gives you solved Objective type question paper on English Language & Comprehension (Held on 24-1-2010).
In addition to above IB ACIO exam papers, I would advise you to go through the sample papers of Bank PO exams, as the test sections are identical - General awareness, English language, Test of reasoning and Mathematical aptitude. You can just go through this blog post on SBI PO exam papers.
Prep Books for IB ACIO Exam:
I could find following books available in the market for IB Assistant Central Intelligence Officers exam.
These books should be available in most book stores. But in case you do not find them, just order them online by clicking the links below from Flipkart.com which offers huge discounts (up to 25%), apart from free shipping if the order exceeds Rs. 200/=.
