Coming close on the heels of recruitment notification issued by BSF for ASI (Steno) and Head Constables (Ministerial) positions, ITBP has also issued Recruitment Notification 2012 for 106 Assistant Sub Inspector (Steno) as well as for 410 Head Constable positions. This augurs well for those of you who are aspiring for a career in the premier police forces in India, as the exam pattern is similar and hence with a single preparation, you can appear in both the police force exams. As per the ITBP Recruitment Notification 2012, last date to apply for these positions is 14.12.2012.
This blog post is aimed to apprise you about the recent ITBP job opportunity by quoting the relevant information on eligibility & forms from the above notification to help you apply for the same. Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) is one of the Central Armed Police Forces of India (previously called as paramilitary forces) and was formed on 24th October, 1962 for guarding India's 2115 kilometer long northern border with the Tibet.
Four primary functions of ITBP are as follows:
1.0 Vigil on the northern borders, detection and prevention of border violations and promotion of security.
2.0 Check illegal immigration and trans-border smuggling .
3.0 Provide security to sensitive installations and threatened VIPs.
4.0 Restore and preserve order in any area in the event of disturbance to maintain the peace in the country.
ITBP is a mountain trained force and most of the officers & men are professionally trained mountaineers and skiers.

ITBP ASI & HC Vacancy 2012:
As said, there are 106 ASI and 410 Head Constable vacancies in this recruitment notification, out of which 25 Head Constable vacancies are for departmental candidates. You can find the post-wise, category-wise ITBP vacancies in the table at right.
Brief description of acronyms are as follows:
ASI (Steno): Assistant Sub Inspector (Stenographer).
HC (ESC): Head Constable (Education & Stress Counselor).
HC (CM): Head Constable (Combatant Ministerial).
Salary for ITBP ASI & HC:
ITBP is offering salary in the following pay-scales for Assistant Sub Inspectors & Head Constables:
Assistant Sub-Inspector: PB-I, Pay Scale Rs. 5200–20200 + Grade Pay Rs.2,800/- per month.
Head Constables: PB-I, Pay Scale Rs. 5200–20200 + Grade Pay Rs.2,400/- per month.
ITBP ASI & HC Eligibility:
Eligibility for ITBP ASI (Steno):
Age: 18 to 25 years (as on 14.12.2012).
Academic Qualification: Class-XII (Intermediate or Senior Secondary School Certificate) or equivalent.
Skill required:
a) Dictation - 10 minutes @ 80 words per minute.
b) Transcription - 50 minutes (English) on computer or 65 minutes (Hindi) on computer.
c) Should have basic knowledge of computer application.
Eligibility for ITBP Head Constable (ESC):
Age: 20 to 25 years (as on 14.12.2012).
Academic Qualification: Graduation with Psychology as a subject OR Graduation with Bachelor of Education/Bachelor of Teaching or equivalent.
Eligibility for ITBP Head Constable (CM):
Age: 18 to 25 years (as on 14.12.2012).
Academic Qualification: Class-XII (Intermediate or Senior Secondary School Certificate) or equivalent.
Skill required:
a) Typing Speed - 35 WPM in English OR 30 WPM in Hindi only on computer.
b) Preference will be given to candidates possessing higher qualifications and having knowledge of basic operation of computer.
On top of above, you need to have the Physical & Medical attributes as given in section "6 & 7 Physical & Medical Standards" in page-3 of the Notification.
ITBP ASI & HC Selection Process:
