First how many openings exists? As per the notification, 500 ITI trainee vacancies exists in WBSEDCL with following break-up of category-wise vacancies:
UR: 230,SC: 105, ST: 30, OBC-A: 50, OBC-B: 35, PH:15, UR (Sports): 10, EXSM:25.
WBSEDCL ITI Trainee Salary:
WBSEDCL is offering these ITI trainees monthly stipend of 10,000 during the 3-month training period. On successful completion of the same, they are absorbed as Linesman in the pay-scale: Rs. 6,300/- - 20,200/- plus Grade Pay Rs. 2,600/-. With this pay scale, approx gross salary is Rs.16,500 per month.
Eligibility for WBSEDCL ITI Trainee:
Age Eligibility: (as on 01.01.2012)
Min: 18 yrs & Max: 27 years. Age relaxations exists as per Govt rule.
Academic Qualification Eligibility:
Madhyamik or equivalent plus ITI Certificate in Wireman or Electrician Trade (2 year duration) under NCTVT from any Govt. ITI under Director of Industrial Training, Govt. of West Bengal. Candidates having adequate knowledge in communicating in Bengali / Nepali language are preferred.
Even candidates from outside of West Bengal can also apply (if above eligibilities are met), but they will have to apply as General Candidates (i.e. SC/ST/OBC-A/OBC-B certificate would not be considered).

Selection process for ITI Trainee Recruitment in WBSEDCL consists of a Written Test followed by Interview which will be held at Kolkata only. WBSEDCL has not said much about the pattern of written exam for ITI Trainee, other than following:
The Written Test will cover the tests for:
1.0 General Aptitude: Consisting of questions from GK & Current Affairs, Logical Reasoning, General English & Arithmetic.
2.0 Technical Aptitude: Consisting of questions from Professional subject (i.e. Wireman/Electrician trade).

No further information on the ITI Trainee Exam Pattern has been given by WBSEDCL. Therefore I had searched on the net for previous years WBSEDCL ITI Trainee Exam paper. But I could not locate any.
However, I find that the General Aptitude test sections (GK, Logical Reasoning, English & Arithmetic) of this exam is very similar to those held for bank clerks. Moreover, the minimum basic qualification is matriculation for both the exam. You can use the sample exam papers of bank clerk exam section-wise as sample papers for WBSEDCL ITI Trainee exam General Aptitude sections.
