Indian Army has just today issued recruitment notification for 116th Technical Graduate Course (TGC) - January 2013. Online submission of form for the same is set to commence from 14th May and the last date to apply online is 14th June, 2012. This notification has been published in major national/regional dailies as well as in Employment News dated 12th May, 2012.
This blog article of mine throws light on the important information on Indian Army TGC, by quoting the same from the above notification and also tells you how to prepare for the same.
First what is Indian Army TGC:
Indian Army Technical Graduate Course (TGC) is one of the avenues by which the technical graduates can join the coveted Indian Army job. Indian Army conducts SSB Interview twice every year in the month of Oct/Nov (for January batch) & Apr/May (for July batch), recruitment notification for which is published in major national dailies as well as in Employment News in May/Jun and Nov/Dec respectively.
On being selected for Indian Army TGC (i.e. subsequent to SSB Interview & medical exam), you would undergo 1-year training in Indian Military Academy, Dehradun during which you would be paid stipend – Rs. 21,000/- p.m. On successful completion of the TGC training period, you are recruited as a Lieutenant in Indian Army with salary in Pay-scale of Rs. 15,600-39,100 with grade pay: 5400 and MSP: 6000.

There are 76 total vacancies as per this notification, with Branch-wise vacancies as below:
1. Civil – 27.

TGC-116 For Army Education Corps (Men):
Post Graduate Degree (MA/M.Sc. in English/History/Music/Geography/Pol. Science/ Physics/Maths) – 08.
Post Graduate Degree MA in Foreign Language: 04.
TGC (Military Farms) - Degree in Dairy or Degree in Agriculture:
Agriculture – 02 & Dairy – 02
Eligibility for Indian Army TGC:
Age eligibility: (Age as on commencement of course – i.e. 1st January, 2013)
For Engineering Graduates - 20 to 27 years (DOB: 2nd Jan 1986 to 1st Jan, 1993).
For AEC - 23 to 27 years (DOB: 2nd Jan 1986 to 1st Jan, 1990).
For Military Farms - 20 to 27 years (DOB: 2nd Jan 1986 to 1st Jan, 1993).
Academic Qualification eligibility:
For Engineers: You should be a engineering graduate. Final Year Engineering Degree Students can also apply, but they have to submit the proof of possessing the qualification within 12 weeks of commencement of TGC course at IMA.
For Army Education Corps: MA/M.Sc. Degree in 1st or 2nd division in English/Economics/ History/Music/Geography/Political Science/Physics & Math can apply.
For Military Farm: Candidate having degree in Dairying/ Agriculture.
The qualification should be from a recognized university.
In addition to above eligibility, you have to posses the physical standard as given in section “(c) physical standard” of the
notification.

Online submission of form: 14th May, 2012
Last date to apply online: 14th June, 2012
Last Date for receipt of application print-out at New Delhi: 30th June, 2012.
Date of SSB Interview for Indian Army TGC 2012: August/September 2012.
Indian Army TGC Recruitment 2012 Application Form:
You have to apply only online for Indian Army Technical Graduate Course 2013. There is no offline form. Post submission of the online form, you have to take printout of the submitted form and send the same to following address so as to reach before 30th June, 2012:

How to prepare for Indian Army TGC Recruitment 2012:
As you have found out in the
notification, there is no written test for Indian Army TGC Recruitment. The selection process consists of a SSB Interview, following which you have to undergo Medical examination.
