RBI Recruitment 2012 (Assistants) Notification Eligibility Forms
RBI recruitment notification 2012 has been issued recently for recruitment of 1000 Assistants (i.e. Clerks), last date for applying to which is 25th March 2012. As per the notification, the written exam would be conducted on 29th April, 2012.


This blog post aims to summarize the above RBI notification – telling you about what eligibilities are required for the assistants, where to get RBI applications forms and how to apply. In a follow-up blog post titled: RBI Assistant exam Pattern, Papers, Books & Interview Questions I would give you the study materials for this RBI recruitment exam.

But first, what is RBI?

RBI is the central bank of India, established on April 1, 1935 through Reserve Bank of India Act, 1934. Although initially privately owned, the RBI has been fully owned by the Government of India since nationaliza tion in 1949.

The Preamble of the Reserve Bank of India describes the basic functions of the Reserve Bank as to regulate the issue of Bank Notes and keeping of reserves with a view to securing monetary stability in India and generally to operate the currency and credit system of the country to its advantage.

It has 22 regional offices, most of them in state capitals.

RBI Assistants vacancy 2012:
Category wise break-up of Assistants vacancy position in RBI is : SC: 127,  ST:65, OBC: 288, GEN:520, Total: 1000.

Why above RBI office-wise vacancy position is important? Because corresponding to these offices, there are recruitment zones (given in page-3 of the RBI recruitment notification 2012) and you should have passed the qualifying examination (i.e. graduation) from the University/Board within the Recruitment Zone of that concerned Office for which you intend to apply.

Salary Offer for RBI Assistants:
Gross salary being offered by RBI for Assistant job is approximately Rs.19,340/-per month, apart from other perquisites. The basic pay is Rs.8,860/- p.m. in the pay-scale of Rs.8,040 – 410 – 9270 – 500 – 11,270 –550 – 13,470 – 650 – 15,420 – 720 – 16,140 – 990 – 20,100.

Eligibility required for RBI Assistants:
Age eligibility: Min: 18 yrs, Max: 28 yrs as on 01.03.2012.
DOB should not be earlier than 02/03/1984 and not later than 01/03/1994.
Age relaxations exist for SC/ST/OBC candidates as well as for candidates with higher qualifications/experience. Refer section: 2 (a) Age of the RBI job notification.

Academic qualification eligibility:
Minimum 50% aggregate marks (pass class for SC/ST/PWD) in the  Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline and the knowledge of word processing on PC. Qualifications should be from a recognized University/Board within the Recruitment Zone of that concerned RBI Office for which you intend to apply..

Selection process for RBI Assistants:
The selection process consists of a Written Exam followed by Interview. The written exam is of  200 marks, consisting of five test sections, each worth 40 marks: Reasoning, English Language, Numerical Ability, General Awareness and Computer Knowledge. RBI Assistants Exam centre city/towns:
The written exam for the Assistant positions in RBI would be conducted in exam centers located in following 36 city/towns: Ahmedabad,  Agartala,  Aizawl,  Allahabad,  Aurangabad,  Bangalore,  Bhopal,  Bhubaneswar,  Chandigarh,  Chennai,  Coimbatore,  Dehradun,  Guwahati,  Hyderabad,  Imphal,  Itanagar,  Jaipur,  Jammu,  Kanpur,  Kochi,  Kohima,  Kolkata,  Lucknow,  Madurai,  Mumbai,  Nagpur,  New Delhi,  Panaji,  Patna,  Port Blair,  Pune,  Raipur,  Shillong,  Shimla,  Siligudi, Thiruvananthapuram.

Call letter/Admit Card for RBI exam 2012:
You have to download the call letter for the written exam which should be available in this website. The date for downloading the Call letter/Admit Card would be sent to your e-mail as well as SMS. So keep checking your mail box nearer exam time.

RBI exam 2012 dates:
Last date for submission of forms: 25.03.2012.
Payment of fees at Bank Branches: 01.03.2012 to 27.03.2012
Date of RBI written exam 2012: 29.04.2012.

    Sir,

    I am currently working at SBH as a PO at Bagalkot,Karnataka.but as I am from West Bengal and also my dream job is Indian Civil Services.As I passed the written exam Sir can you suggest me if I can get more time than a PO as an assistsnt in RBI.
