While posting a previous blog article on BARC OCES DGFS program titled: BARC OCES DGFS 2012 Notification, Eligibility & Forms I had wanted also to post prep materials for the Written test of BARC OCES DGFS exam to help you prepare for the same. However, while locating the sample papers and books for BARC OCES DGFS exam on the net, although I had invested considerable time, I could not find that much of noteworthy materials. Therefore, along with a short discussion on the exam pattern/selection process of BARC OCES written test, I would advise you to base your preparation for this recruitment exam on GATE exam.
Exam pattern/selection process of BARC OCES DGFS exam:
Selection process for BARC OCES DGFS program is based on the performance in interview. But to be selected for the BARC Interview, you have to clear the shortlisting based on two alternative modes: i) The written test or ii) GATE score.
While applying for the BARC OCES DGFS program, you have to chose which option you would like to take - the written test or the GATE score. This option is available for all seven engineering and six science disciplines as given in my previous blog post, except for Civil Engineering discipline. There is no written test for Civil Engineering discipline and hence you have to appear in GATE and present your GATE score to BARC for shortlisting.
The written exam of BARC OCES/DGFS program consists of a two hour exam, consisting of hundred multiple choice Objective type questions. Each question is worth 3 marks. But however, a word of caution - there is negative marking in BARC OCES/DGFS exam. Each wrong answer would fetch you -1. The answers have to be marked in OMR (Optical Mark Reader) sheets.
The BARC OCES/DGF 2011 written exam would be held on following dates:
For Science disciplines: Sunday, February 27, 2011
For Engineering disciplines: Sunday, April 24, 2011.
BARC OCES DGFS exam Sample papers/Books:
As I had told you previously, there is hardly any material worth the name forBARC OCES DGFS exam. And I could locate only this sample paper from BARC website, which can just throw you some light on what are the standard of questions.
Also, I could not find any book specific to BARC exam.
Therefore, please base your preparation on the basis of GATE exam. I would also be on the lookout for more Sample Papers & Books on BARC OCES DGFS Exam and post the same here as and when I find them. Therefore please keep visiting this blog!

If you have applied for FCI MT (Management Trainee) positions, you might naturally want some prep material for FCI MT exam – the online sample papers as well as books to prepare for the exam. The focus of this blog post is precisely that – it tells you at first what is the pattern of FCI Management Trainee exam and than goes on to give you some online sample papers and name of book to prepare for this exam.
Having said that, let us know what the pattern of FCI MT exam is.
FCI MT Exam Pattern: You might have gone through the FCI recruitment notification and found that the selection process for FCI MT position consists of a written test, followed by GD and than the Interview. As you must have found out already, not much has been said in the notification about the pattern of Management Trainee recruitment exam except following:
The written test for MT (General/Depot/Movement) consists of 90 General Aptitude questions from following test sections: Reasoning, Data Analysis, Computer Awareness, General Awareness/Current Affairs and Management. On the other hand, the written test for MT (Accounts) consists of 90 questions on General Accounting and Finance.
You have to secure minimum 50% (for SC/ST 45%) in the written test, which is the minimum cut-off mark set by FCI for short listing the candidate. Also approximately 3030 candidates are expected to be selected from the written test for GD/Interview as FCI is going to call five times the vacancy (i.e. 5 x 606) for GD/Interview.
FCI MT Exam Sample/Previous Years Old papers: If you are searching on net for sample papers for FCI Management Trainee exam, than let me tell you that it would be a sheer wastage of time. Although many websites tells you that sample papers are available on their site, I could not find a single noteworthy exam paper on the net for FCI MT exam.
In absence of the sample papers, I would advise you to prepare for the FCI MT exam, based on other recruitment exams which have similar test sections, such as those for Bank PO and Management Trainee exam of other public sector undertakings.
I am posting below some sample papers, which I think should give you an idea of what sort of questions are asked in each section:

You can also check this previous blog post of mine titled: Test of Reasoning: Sample Question papers & Books, which not only tells you about the four types of Test of reasoning (Numerical Reasoning, Verbal Reasoning, Abstract Reasoning & Diagrammatic Reasoning), but also gives you sample papers and books for the test of reasoning.
FCI MT Exam Sample Paper- Computer Awareness: UPSC Portal has a good collection of 100 sample questions for Computer General Knowledge For Bank Examination. You can view this sample paper here.
FCI MT Exam Sample Paper-General Awareness/Current Affairs:
As I had told you beforehand, above sample papers were not exclusive to FCI Management Trainee exam, but have been compiled from various recruitment exams, which have same test sections to give you some idea.
If you are serious about preparing for FCI MT exam, for these General Aptitude paper, you should rely on exam guide books, names of few of which have been given below.

ATMA Exam pattern, Sample Papers & Books

This blog post follows my earlier blog post titled: ATMA 2011 Exam Notification, Eligibility & Forms, which introduces you to this management entrance exam and tells you when to expect exam notification, the ATMA eligibilities and how to apply for the same.
The focus of this blog post is on how to prepare for ATMA: It would give you the exam pattern and also sources of online sample papers and books.
ATMA Exam pattern: The exam contains 170 Objective type questions to be answered in 180 minutes (3 hours). There are 6 sections from three test areas (two sections per test area): Analytical Reasoning Skills, Quantitative Skills, and Verbal skills.
Number of questions per section along with time allotted can be found from following ATMA exam structure: As you can find from above ATMA Exam pattern, number of questions is less in Verbal skills test area (50 questions to be answered in 60 minutes), compared to Analytical Reasoning Skills (60), Quantitative Skills (60). Therefore, you have roughly 1 minute approximately to answer each question.
Also, you are not allowed to go back/forward to any other section, other than the section for which time has been set. That is, for instance, after expiry of first 30 minutes till next 30 minutes, you have to answer Section-II (Verbal skills) only. You can not go back to Analytical Reasoning section or forward to Quantitative section.
However within a given section, you can answer the questions randomly and can come back to any previously un-answered question. Out of four answer choices, you have to darken the corresponding oval of the best answer with an HB pencil (and not pen) in the OMR answer sheet.
There is negative marking in ATMA exam: 1/3rd (i.e. 0.33) mark would be deducted for each wrong answer, including if you choose multiple answers for a particular question.
Question types:
ATMA tests three of your skills: Analytical Reasoning Skills, Quantitative Skills, Verbal Skills. What skills are looked at in these tests?
Questions on Analytical Reasoning Skills tests your logical thinking ability. You need to analyse the situations on which each question is based and then select the most appropriate answer.
Quantitative Skills Questions measure your ability to reason Quantitatively, solve Quantitative problems, and interpret graphic data. Type of questions in Quantitative section includes Problem-Solving & Data Sufficiency questions, for which you need to have basic knowledge of Arithmetic, Algebra and Geometry.
Verbal Skills sections measure your ability to read and comprehend written material in English language, to reason and evaluate arguments, and to correct written material to conform standard written English. Type of question in ATMA Verbal section includes: 1. Reading comprehension 2. Sentence Correction 3. Vocabulary – antonyms, synonyms, analogies - your ability to recognize relationships among words and concepts, parallel relationships, etc. 4. Sentence completions – your ability to recognize words or phrases that both logically and stylistically complete the meaning of a sentence.
ATMA Exam Sample Papers:
ATMA Exam Books: I could not find any books specifically published for ATMA test. However, since the sections of ATMA & MAT are similar (with both having the three test sections: Analytical Reasoning, Quantitative & Verbal), I am sure these books on MAT is going to be of help.
These books are available in most of the bookstores, but you can also order them online by clicking the links below, from Flipkart.com which offers hugediscounts upto 25%, apart from free shipping/postage in India if the order exceeds Rs. 100/=.
