Written exam for recruitment of PGT (Post Graduate Teachers) is likely to be conducted by Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti on 19th February, 2012. This blog article is being made to help you prepare for this exam by giving you the prep materials for Navodaya PGT exam. It at first discusses the pattern/format of the written exam and than goes on to point you to the sample papers and prep books for the same.

Pattern/ format of Navodaya PGT exam:

Navodaya PGT written test consists of a 240 mark Objective type question (MCQ) paper, which has to be answered in 3 hours. Out of the total 240 marks, Language & Aptitude sections consists of 160 marks and are common for all candidates. The rest 80 mark consists of subject knowledge questions – (i.e.  Specialization subject).

You can find the name of test sections along with the number of questions and marks for each test section in the Navodaya PGT written exam pattern in the table at right.

This format of Navodaya PGT exam is very similar to the PGT exam conducted by KVS (Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan) – the test sections are identical, except that the Subject knowledge paper consists of 120 marks (compared to 80 in Navodaya PGT exam) and is held separately as KVS PGT Mains exam.  In the table below, you can find the pattern of Navodaya PGT written test vis-à-vis KVS PGT written test.

Why this comparison is being made? It is to show you that as the pattern of exam is identical, you can use the same sample papers and books for KVS PGT exam as prep/study material for Navodaya PGT written exam.

I had searched on the net and could not find any reliable authentic exam papers specific to Navodaya PGT written exam. In such cases where any exam resource is not found, I always advise candidates to prepare test section-wise as sample papers for Navodaya PGT test section exists for other recruitment exams such as bank clerical/insurance assistants exams.
