All these public sector companies are going to recruit ET (Engineer Trainee) based on GATE scores. At first they would shortlist the candidates based on GATE score and than they would be called for further selection process which consists of GD & Interview.
No wonder therefore, number of applicant in GATE 2012 has touched a mind boggling figure of 11, 39,395. Compare this with number of applicants in GATE 2011: 5, 52,530 & GATE 2010: only 4, 14, 093. Yes, the number of GATE applicants have more than doubled compared to last year. Most of these applicants actually would not go for higher studies, but are appearing in GATE for selections to the PSUs.
It is needless to say that GATE 2012 application form last date is over on 21st October, 2011. If you had not applied for GATE 2012, you can not apply for the ET jobs in these companies. If you have however applied, you would be able to download your GATE Admit card from 2nd January, 2012 onwards. On this admit card would be printed your GATE-2012 Registration Number. You have to use this Registration Number to apply for the ET jobs in the individual company recruitment websites, the date and link of which has been given below.
IOCL ET Recruitment 2012/2013
Number of ET vacancies in 2012 in IOCL: 225
Dates for online form submission: 02/01/2012 to 11/02/2012
Salary Package:
Consolidated stipend of Rs.35,000/- per month during 1 year training period. Thereafter pay scale with basic pay of Rs.24900/-per month.
Eligibility:
Maximum 26 years as on 30.06.2012
Min. 65% for General and pass marks for SC/ST/PWD candidates.
GATE subjects for IOCL ET:
Civil Engineering (CE), Chemical Engineering (CH), Computer Science & Information Technology (CS), Electrical Engineering (EE), Mechanical Engineering (ME), Instrumentation Engineering (IE), Metallurgical Engineering (MT).

Dates for online form submission: 06/01/2012 to 26/01/2012.
Salary Package:
Pay scale of Rs. 24900-3%-50500 at the basic pay of Rs. 24900/- during 1-year training and thereafter at a basic pay of Rs. 25650/-.
Eligibility:
Maximum 27 years as on 01.01.2012 i.e. DOB not earlier than 01.01.1985.
Min. 65% (for SC, ST & PWD candidates 55 %.) in BE/B.Tech./AMIE.
GATE subjects for NTPC ET:
Civil Engineering (CE), Electrical Engineering (EE), Mechanical Engineering (ME),

BHEL ET Recruitment 2012/2013:

Max. 27 years as on as on 01/08/2012 if you are BE/B.Tech./AMIE.
Max. 29 years if you are ME/M.Tech./MBA post engineering..

Power Grid ET Recruitment 2012/2013

Eligibility:
No maximum age.

HEC (Heavy Engineering Corporation) Recruitment 2012:
Number of ET vacancies in 2012 in HEC: 70
(Mechanical: 55, Electrical: 4, Civil: 5, Mettalurgical:3, IT: 3)
Dates for online form submission: 1st to 26th September, 2012..
Salary Package:
For the 1st year, HEC is offering the ETs monthly stipend Rs.16.400/- plus DA (presently 61.5% of Basic Pay) with other benefits. On successful completion of the first year training, ETs are placed in E1 scale (Rs16,400 – 40,400/-) with basic pay of Rs 16,900/-.
Eligibility:
Max. 29 years as on 01.07.2012
Minimum 60% in BE/B. Tech in the relevant discipline.
BARC OCES/DGFS Recruitment:
If you are an engineering graduate or a science graduate going for your PG, and would like to join the prestigious organisation BARC (Bhabha Atomic Research Centre), there are two avenues of employment for you:
1.0 OCES: Orientation Course for Engineers and Scientists.
2.0 DGFS: DAE (Department of Atomic Energy) Graduate Fellowship Scheme.
This ET recruitment process of using the GATE score was first started by IOCL in 2009. But now, as you have found more are joining the bandwagon. I am sure that in the future years, more and more companies like ONGC, HPCL, BPCL, GAIL etc. are going to follow GATE-scores for recruitment.
The PSU list recruiting through GATE as given above is not exhaustive. These are only live cases of the companies in which you can apply. There are other PSU like BARC as given below which also uses GATE score for Engineer/Scientist recruitment.
So take your studies in engineering days seriously – yes, GATE can be your GATE-way for that elusive first job! Best wishes!

I saw one of your posts wherein you gave details about recruitment by various PSUS through GATE 2012 scores...would you please kindly inform wherein I can get information where PSUS will be recruiting through GATE-2012 scores....?
It's difficult to keep updated with the various recruitments...so it would be of great help if you could suggest me something on that...?
Also are you also keeping track of all the govt. jobs recruitments....would it be possible that if I susbcribe to your posts and blogs I would get the required information...?
