All these public sector companies are going to recruit ET (Engineer Trainee) based on GATE scores. At first they would shortlist the candidates based on GATE score and than they would be called for further selection process which consists of GD & Interview.
No wonder therefore, number of applicant in GATE 2012 has touched a mind boggling figure of 11, 39,395. Compare this with number of applicants in GATE 2011: 5, 52,530 & GATE 2010: only 4, 14, 093. Yes, the number of GATE applicants have more than doubled compared to last year. Most of these applicants actually would not go for higher studies, but are appearing in GATE for selections to the PSUs.
It is needless to say that GATE 2012 application form last date is over on 21st October, 2011. If you had not applied for GATE 2012, you can not apply for the ET jobs in these companies. If you have however applied, you would be able to download your GATE Admit card from 2nd January, 2012 onwards. On this admit card would be printed your GATE-2012 Registration Number. You have to use this Registration Number to apply for the ET jobs in the individual company recruitment websites, the date and link of which has been given below.
IOCL ET Recruitment 2012/2013

Dates for online form submission: 02/01/2012 to 11/02/2012
Salary Package:
Consolidated stipend of Rs.35,000/- per month during 1 year training period. Thereafter pay scale with basic pay of Rs.24900/-per month.

Maximum 26 years as on 30.06.2012
Min. 65% for General and pass marks for SC/ST/PWD candidates.

Maximum 27 years as on 01.01.2012 i.e. DOB not earlier than 01.01.1985.
Min. 65% (for SC, ST & PWD candidates 55 %.) in BE/B.Tech./AMIE.

Power Grid ET Recruitment 2012/2013

The PSU list recruiting through GATE as given above is not exhaustive. These are only live cases of the companies in which you can apply. There are other PSU like BARC as given below which also uses GATE score for Engineer/Scientist recruitment.
BARC OCES/DGFS Recruitment:
If you are an engineering graduate or a science graduate going for your PG, and would like to join the prestigious organisation BARC (Bhabha Atomic Research Centre), there are two avenues of employment for you:
1.0 OCES: Orientation Course for Engineers and Scientists.
2.0 DGFS: DAE (Department of Atomic Energy) Graduate Fellowship Scheme.
This ET recruitment process of using the GATE score was first started by IOCL in 2009. But now, as you have found more are joining the bandwagon. I am sure that in the future years, more and more companies like ONGC, HPCL, BPCL, GAIL etc. are going to follow GATE-scores for recruitment.
