Each AIEEE (All India Engineering/Architecture Entrance Exam) aspirants wants to know while preparing for the exam -what is the exam pattern/format of AIEEE – what are the AIEEE papers, the type of and number of questions asked and the mark distribution in each AIEEE test papers.
The focus of this particular blog post is to precisely give you this information on AIEEE papers. While this information is posted for AIEEE 2012 examinee, aspirants for future AIEEE exams like AIEEE 2013/AIEEE 2014 would also find the info useful to know about the exam pattern/format of AIEEE.
This blog post should be read in association with another blog article titled: AIEEE 2012 syllabus, which gives you the topic-wise syllabus of all three AIEEE subjects/Architecture to get the complete picture of AIEEE exam papers.
I would also recommend find following previous blog articles (posted in advance), useful:
Without wasting time further let us know what would be the pattern of AIEEE 2012. AIEEE-2012 exam Pattern:
AIEEE is conducted as an entrance exam for two different streams – Engineering streams (B.E/B.Tech) and Architecture/Planning streams (B.Arch/B. Planning). There are two separate AIEEE papers (Paper-1 is for Engineering streams & Paper-2 is for Architecture/Planning), which are held on the same day. AIEEE-2012 Paper-1 Pattern:
For Engineering streams (B.E/B.Tech), you need to appear in AIEEE Paper-1. The paper consists of objective type questions in Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics, with equal weightage in each subject. AIEEE Paper-1 is a three hour exam from 0930-1230 Hours.
Number of questions asked and marks per question varies from year to year and I am giving below trend of exam pattern of AIEEE from AIEEE-2007 TO AIEEE-2011:
AIEEE 2011: There were 30 questions in each subject. Out of 30 question in each section, the marking pattern was (+ 4, -1) marks. Each section of the paper was of 120 marks means a total of 360 marks.
AIEEE 2010: There were 30 questions in each subject. Out of 30 questions in each section 24 questions carried 4 marks ( -1 for wrong answer ) and 6 question were of 8 marks ( -2 for wrong answer ). Each section of the paper was of 144 marks means a total of 432 marks.
AIEEE 2009: Same as AIEEE 2010.
AIEEE 2008: There were 35 questions in each section, each question carrying 3 marks - thus 105 marks in each section - 315 marks for all three sections. The negative marking was -1 for every incorrect answer.
AIEEE 2007: There were 40 questions in each subjects. Each question carried 3 marks. The negative marking was -1. Total marks were 360.
With above exam pattern analysis, pattern of AIEEE 2012 is expected to be not much different than AIEEE 2011. So you can base your preparation accordingly.
AIEEE-2012 Paper-2 Pattern:
For Architecture/Planning streams (B.Arch./B. Planning), you need to appear in AIEEE Paper-2 which consists of three parts Part I: Mathematics –Objective type questions Part II: Aptitude Test – Objective type questions. Part III: Drawing Test –Two questions to test drawing aptitude The test is conducted on the same day as AIEEE Paper-1 from 1400-1700 Hours. The Aptitude Test is designed to evaluate candidate’s perception, imagination, observation, creativity and architectural awareness. Not much information is available on internet on sample AIEEE paper for B.Arch./B. Planning. What is the question pattern of AIEEE papers? While preparing for your AIEEE exam, you would like to know what are the topics in each subject and how many question/marks are asked in each topic. You can find this information in the AIEEE exam paper analyses by AIEEE coaching institutes like Career Launcher. For example, following screenshot of AIEEE Maths paper analysis from 2008-2010 gives you what were the topics asked and how many questions were asked in each maths topic. This helps you tremendously to know where to put more weightage. Download AIEEE exam paper analysis: While going through these exam analysis, you need to bear in mind that over the years, number of questions and also marks per questions have changed in AIEEE exam as given above in AIEEE exam pattern. But however above analysis gives you a good understanding on which area to put more emphasis on in your preparation for AIEEE-2012 exam. Thus with above exam pattern/format of AIEEE exam and AIEEE analysis, you have some very good study materials for AIEEE-2012 exam. The same can be used as study materials for AIEEE-2013 exam as well. Best wishes!
