IB ACIO Recruitment 2011 Notification, Eligibility & Forms

IB (Intelligence Bureau) had few days back issued recruitment notification 2011 for 750 vacancies of ACIO (Assistant Central Intelligence Officer) Grade II. If you are a graduate, you can apply for these positions, last date for application for which is 22nd June, 2011.

But first let us know about IB as an organization.

What is Intelligence Bureau, India:

IB is India's internal intelligence agency (the external intelligence agency being RAW-Research and Analysis Wing) under ministry of home affairs, Govt. of India. Its basic function is to garner intelligence from within India and also execute counter-intelligence and counter-terrorism tasks. Its employee consists of those from law enforcement agencies, mostly from the Indian Police Service and the military.

IB is headed by Director Intelligence Bureau (a senior IPS officer). Its Employee strength is believed be around 25,000. Assistant Central Intelligence Officer in Grade-II for which this recruitment advertisement has been made is a Non-Gazetted Group 'C' Officer, equivalent to a Sub-inspector.

IB ACIO Vacancies 2011:

Category-wise vacancy ACIO positions of Intelligence Bureau is as follows:

GEN: 380, OBC: 202, SC: 112, ST: 56. Total: 750.

Salaries for IB Assistant Central Intelligence Officers:

Intelligence Bureau is offering salary in the pay scale of Rs.9300-34800/- plus Grade Pay of Rs.4200/- (plus usual Central Govt. allowances) for Assistant Central Intelligence Officers.

Eligibilities for IB Assistant Central Intelligence Officers:

Age Eligibility: (as on 22.06.2011 – last date of application)

Max: 27 years.

Age relaxations: SC/ST: 5 years, OBC: 3 years, Govt. Employee (with 3 years experience): up to 40 years.

Academic Qualification Eligibility:

Minimum Graduation from a recognized University or equivalent.

Desirable Qualification: Knowledge of computer .

Selection process for IB ACIO:

The selection process for Assistant Central Intelligence Officer positions in IB consists of a written test followed by Interview. Details about this can be found in my next blog post titled: IB ACIO Exam Pattern, Sample Papers & Books.

Written exam centers for IB ACIO recruitment:

IB ACIO exam 2011 would be held in 32 cities/towns all over India as given below:

Agartala, Ahmedabad, Aizawl, Amritsar, Bangalore, Bhopal, Bhubaneshwar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Dehradun, Delhi, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Imphal, Itanagar, Jaipur, Jammu, Kohima, Kolkata, Leh, Lucknow, Meerut, Mumbai, Nagpur, Patna, Raipur, Ranchi, Shillong, Shimla, Trivandrum, Varanasi, Vijaywada.

IB ACIO Online Form 2011:

You can apply only online for these IB Assistant Central Intelligence Officer positions.

There is no offline form.

IB ACIO Exam 2011 Admit Card:

You can download the Admit Card for IB ACIO Exam 2011 within one week of the closing date of Application i.e. 22.06.2011.

Important Dates for IB ACIO Exam 2011:

Submission of Online Application starts: 23.05.2011

Last date of Submission of Online form: 22.06.2011 by 24.00 hrs

Date of IB ACIO Exam 2011: 10.07.2011

Result Declaration: Last week of August

Interview Schedule: Mid September/October.

That is a great news.

You see questions asked in Interview for all jobs are almost alike - starting with some basic questions about yourself to put you at ease and than going into more complex questions to test different traits of your personality. Just go thorough my blog post titled: Interview for Jobs.

I am sure that would help. Also you should know about "Intelligence Bureau" as an organisation, since some questions are bound to be asked on this in IB ACIO Interview. So go through this Wiki material.

This is so because I have seen the candidates asking for the result date in the recruitment year 2010 in some website.

I'd like to help those who are yet to attend the interview of ACIO. My intervew was over on 21st November. The interview panel was good and cordial. The questions were mainly from
1. The locality you belong i.e, info about your place. how well you know about your place eg, monuments, importance in history, freedom struggle etc.
2. Why do u choose IB
3. What do u know about this job?
4.Of course about ur profile.

The interview went on for about 15 minutes only.

First of all CONGRATS!.

I would have been happy if you had narrated your exam/interview experience. This would have helped future IB ACIO examinees. If you still want to share, please let me know - it will be shared as a blog post with you as an author.

As for ACIO position in IB, the Officer positions (Non-Gazetted Group 'B'), equivalent to that of a police inspector/sub-inspector.

You can go through this link to know more about IB.

Meanwhile you can see the film Sarfarosh (1999) where investigations of a Mumbai police crime branch team led by ACP Rathore seemed to have reached a dead end, when a chance clue from IB leads the investigators to Bahid in Rajasthan.

Tej,
Actually I am not in a position to answer your queries, since I am not from IB itself.

I actually gather information about recruitment avenues and post in this career blog of mine to help the job aspirants.

Hope I have not discouraged you. I think it is you who has to take the final call on whether to quit your IT career and go for IB. I think the job in IB needs lot of intelligence gathering and entails frequent transfer. It is not a cushy job like in IT..

So decide yourself..And thank God that you already have a job, so you have options..

Hi, Saif here.. I gt selected in IB exam this yr.. interview board was cordial ..they were interested in my hobbies like reading n blogging. they asked me comparisons between writings of different author. also qstns were on issues like terrorism and mindset of people..

i am a graduate in arts completed in 2011 age 23, looking for a job specificly in defence and security. i have appeared in ssb once last year but couldn't clear it and was eliminated in the confrence there. i am determined to get through any such test that comes my way but the issue is that i'm not familiar to most of the private jobs in this field. and also would like to know 'bout the application dates for govt. jobs in the fields specified.
