I have already gone through every word posted :) hope to clear it... this is a lifelong dream and thank you for your wishes...
Will be so glad to share my experiences if i clear it ... had one doubt though... how important is physical fitness during the interview...

Physical fitness is in fact important for all Defence career interviews.

But for AFCAT, this should not be as stringent as in NDA/CDS etc. So if you posses the physical standards as given in the notification, this should not be a hurdle though.

    Helo Sir/ Mam,
I just have one question that like in army there is no criteria of minimum 60% in graduation. I think some courses its difficult to score 60 but in some the case is not the same..So why here an applicant is judged by his/ her graduation score?
Why can't like other govt exams the elligibility criteria is 50 or 55 %
I am concerned with this because my score is 56% and i am really feeling bad to see losing out this opportunity..

    Hi,
Please be very careful while posting such important information. You say that the minimum height for tech. branch in IAF is 167.5 cm which is grossly wrong. It is 157.5 cm.
Also, you have wrongly written AE(Electronics) in place of AE(Mechanical).
Careers of many students depends on info you provide. Please be very, very careful.

prasanta, plz answer my question, its very important for some of us,
in engineering generally, its near to impossible to score 60% while very easy in any other graduation, then is this a curse for engineers ??
also, if a student is YD (year down) for 1 year in engg. then will he be eligible for AFCAT ?
    thanks in advance ....
    great post by u ...

    Dear A K Patil,
Thank you for the good words.

About your first question -60% difficult in engineering while easy for others: Actually this may be debatable.
Your 2nd question about 1 YD: Ithink you are talking about 1 year backlog.

The notification says: "Candidates should not have any present backlog at the time of SSB Testing". But does not says for certain that if a "Candidates have a previous backlog, he is not eligible".

You can ascertain this by contacting following contact details:
    Tele : 011-23010231 Extn : 7080, 011- 23013690 (Direct); Telefax : 011-23017918 ; E-mail : career_iaf@bol.net.in.

    Best wishes & Regards.

  • At July 7, 2012 at 9:30 PM, Blogger Prasanta Bora said…

    Nishu,
You have to submit provisional / original degree certificate latest by 15th June 2013.

So, may be you will miss the chance by a narrow margin of dates.

I am quoting the relevant portion of the notification below:

Candidates appearing in final year/semester examinations may also apply provided they fulfil the following
    conditions:-
    (a) Candidates should not have any present backlog and should have secured a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate in
all papers put together upto the last semester / year for which results have been declared at the time of applying / AFSB
    testing.
    (b) Candidates should be able to provide provisional / original degree certificate latest by 15th June 2013.

    Hello Sir

I am Kaustubh Karnataki R. I am currently studying in last year of my Bachelor in Engineering course (Branch: Electronics and Communication).
I want to apply for the Technical Branch {Aeronautical engineer-(Electronics) AE(L)} course. While registering for the same, i am facing a problem in application part 3 of the online form.
According to eligibility criteria as mentioned in notification, i have studied 11 subjects out of 18 subjects mentioned.

I have not undergone the the PABT test.
I do not have Valid Commercial Pilot License Issued by DGCA, I am not a NCC cadet, nor i am a serving airman.
I wanted to know what should i fill in the other details part of application part 3 so that i can proceed further with fulfilling the eligibility criteria for technical branch AE{L} course.

    Thank you

Hi Sir, I wish to pursue my career in air traffic control. I suppose that falls under Ground duty and administrative.

My question is I will be finishing my PG in MSC IT in the year 2014. I am doing MSc because my BSc IT agg is only 53%. Also i will be turning 25 yrs in July 2014.

So do i have a chance in joining IAF ?
