IDBI Exam Pattern, Sample Papers & Books

IDBI Exam Sample Papers Books
Are you searching for some prep materials for IDBI exam - the sample papers & books? Than you are in the right place - this blog post precisely gives you that - it points you to the sources for the sample papers as well as names the books that you can use for preparation of IDBI recruitment exam. In fact, this blog post of mine follows from two earlier blog articles which informs you about IDBI recruitment 2010-2011 - one for 880 Asst. Manager positions and the other for 700 Executive (Contractual) positions which had informed you about the recruitment notifications as well as how to apply for the same.

But before that, let us find out about the pattern of IDBI Bank Exam.

IDBI Bank Exam Pattern:
For both Asst. Manager positions and Executive (Contractual) positions, the selection process is similar - it consists of a written exam followed by interview.

What's more, even the pattern of written exam (consisting of objective type questions) is also similar, with same test sections as the comparison below would show:
Exam pattern/format/scheme for IDBI Exam for Executives (Contractual):
1.0 Test of Reasoning.
2.0 Test of Quantitative Aptitude.
3.0 Test of English Language.

Exam pattern/format/scheme for IDBI Exam for Asst. Managers:
1.0 Test of Reasoning,
2.0 Test of Quantitative Aptitude.
3.0 Test of English Language.
4.0 Test of General & Financial Awareness.
As you can see above, only one test paper section is extra for IDBI Exam for Asst. Managers: the Test of General & Financial Awareness.

Reasons for similarity in above two IDBI exams can be attributed to the fact that IDBI is looking for almost same set of eligibilities for the Asst. Manager positions and Executive (Contractual) positions - graduation in any discipline. Only minimum marks for Asst. Manager positions is higher - 60% in graduation, compared to 55% for Executive (Contractual) positions.

The above exam pattern is also identical to pattern of Bank PO exams, which has exactly the same test sections. You can hence base your preparation on the pattern of Bank PO exams.

IDBI Exam Pattern
How many questions are going to be asked in which test sections? What is the duration? This is not disclosed in IDBI recruitment notification. But you can take take the cue from a recent UCO Bank PO exam paper - which had total 225 questions for 250 marks to be answered in 135 minutes. The exam pattern is given at right.

Cut-off marks for IDBI Bank PO Exam:
How much mark should you score to qualify for IDBI Bank Po exam?
The cut-offs for the individual papers would be decided by IDBI Bank only after the exam is over, depending on the relative performance of all the candidates.

Online sample/model/previous years papers of IDBI Bank exam:
I had searched for those online papers of IDBI Bank exam which you would need for preparation of the exam. I could find following sample papers for IDBI exam:

Click here to find 50 Solved Questions Paper of I.D.B.I. Bank Officers Cadre Exam Held on 3rd October 2008.

Other than above papers I could not locate any good sample/previous years paper exclusive to IDBI Bank exam. But however, I could fish out some sample papers for Bank PO exam, which I think would help in your preparation for IDBI Bank exam:

Above papers have been sourced from Competition Master in the section “Bank Recruitment Exams”, which has been publishing solved question papers of previous years banking exams as shown in the screenshot at left.

You can also download some more sample papers from following sources:
From India Study Channel: Bank PO Mock test paper
From Allinterview: OBC Grade-B Officers Recruitment Exam July 2004 Question Paper-1 &Paper-II

Books for IDBI Bank PO Solved previous years papers:
Although above sample papers gives you an exposure to what questions you may expect in the IDBI Bank exam, your actual preparation should be based on books as the contents are more reliable.
Following books can be used for your preparation. These books are available in most of the bookstores, but you can also order them online by clicking the links below, from Flipkart.com which offers huge discounts up to 25%, apart from free shipping/postage in India. You can choose to pay through Credit Card/Debit Card/Internet Banking. You can also choose to pay through “Cash-on-Delivery” i.e. you pay in cash only when the same is delivered at your doorstep:

Cover Price: Rs. 300 Price: Rs. 293/- Discount: Rs. 97 (25% )

Cover Price: Rs. 350 Price: Rs. 263/- Discount: Rs. 87 ( 25% ).

Cover Price: Rs. 260

IDBI Bank PO Interview Questions:
This blog has excellent materials to help you prepare for the IDBI Bank Interview & Group Discussion with a list of Interview questions & GD topics.

For Interview, click here to visit this article, which tells you what are the requirements an interviewer looks for in you. It also gives you an interesting YouTube video telling you how you can also analyze an interviewer and hence be prepared for it. And than it gives you a list of 99 interview questions, which are most repeated in every other interview! These questions helps you prepare yourself.

Similarly for GD, click here to visit this article, which tells you what are the essential qualities you need to have and how you can prepare for the same, along with a YouTube video of a mock-GD. Further this article tells you what are the different types of GD, along with example of GD topics.

LIC AAO Exam Pattern, Sample papers & Books

November 20, 2010

LIC AAO Exam Sample papers Books Pattern
This blog post follows my earlier blog article on LIC AAO recruitment 2011 Notification, Eligibility, Forms which introduces you to the LIC AAO exam and tells you how to apply for the same. The focus of this blog post is on providing you the LIC AAO exam study materials – at first by analyzing the exam pattern of LIC AAO exam and than providing you the sources of online LIC exam sample papers and available books for your preparation for the same.

LIC AAO selection process:
Selection Procedure for LIC AAO (Chartered Accountant, Company Secretary and Legal) consists of only interview while that for LIC AAO (Generalist) selection procedure consists of a written exam followed by interview.
Subsequent to interview, all the selected candidates have to undergo pre-recruitment medical examination. What are the likely tests conducted in pre-recruitment medical examination? You can get some idea in my this previous blog post.

In the LIC exam selection process, three times the vacancies against each position are likely to be called for the interview. Thus number of persons likely to be called for LIC interview is as follows:
Assistant Administrative Officer (Generalists):750
Assistant Administrative Officer (Chartered Accountant):300
Assistant Administrative Officer (Legal):60
Assistant Administrative Officer (Company Secretary): 15

LIC AAO written exam format/pattern:
As said above, written exam would be conducted only for LIC AAO (Generalist) positions. The exam will have two papers – Paper-I (Objective) & Paper-II (Descriptive), in which Paper-II is of only qualifying nature – the marks scored in Paper-I will only decide the merit ranking.

On the basis of relative performance of candidates (i.e. marks scored) in Paper-I, LIC would decide the cut-off criteria and would evaluate the Paper-II for only those candidates above this cut-off. Thus your performance in Paper-II should be at least such that LIC finds your language proficiency good, since Paper-II consists of Essay, Précis writing & Comprehension.

Sections in LIC AAO Exam Paper-I: Marks: 140 total, Duration: 2 hours.
Reasoning Ability.
Numerical Ability.
General Knowledge & Current Affairs.
English Language (Grammar and vocabulary).
You can appear in the above first three sections either in Hindi or in English

Sections in LIC AAO Exam Paper-II: Marks: 50 total, Duration: 2 hours.
Essay writing.
Précis writing & Comprehension.
You can answer essay writing section either in Hindi or English but Précis writing & Comprehension section has to be answered only in English.

Although LIC in its job notification has not spelt out any mark distribution among test sections and also time duration for the same, I expect the pattern of LIC written exam to be similar to a Bank PO exam, which has similar sections, including Paper-II (Descriptive) for English proficiency.

LIC AAO exam sample online papers:
First thing that you would like to know while preparing for a LIC AAO exam is where to find those online sample papers. I did some scouting for you on the net and could find following sample/previous years paper of LIC AAO exam:

GJTutorial: It has 20 Quantitative questions of LIC AAO exam -2007.

However I could find following sample papers for LIC Asst. Development Officers (ADO) exam:

Indiaknow.blogspot: You will find the LIC (ADO) 2007 solved paper (26 questions) on General Knowledge and Current Affairs.

Edutalkindia.blogspot: You will find 50 questions

Careers-India.com: You will find 35 questions of LIC ADO exam.

Take these sample papers only for an exposure to what questions are set in LIC written exam. Rely more on books for your preparation.

Also, as told above, LIC AAO written exam pattern is very similar to the Bank PO exams. Therefore following two blog posts on bank PO exam, which also gives you downloadable sample papers section-wise (almost same as LIC AAO exam) should help you in your preparation for LIC AAO exam:

SBI Probationary Officer (PO) exam Solved Question papers, Sample Papers and Exam pattern

LIC AAO exam books:
LIC AAO Exam Prep Book
I found following books on net for preparation for LIC AAO Exam. These books are available in most of the bookstores, but you can also order them online by clicking the links below, from Flipkart.com which offers huge discounts upto 25%, apart from free shipping/postage in India if the order exceeds Rs. 100/=. You can choose to pay through Credit Card/Debit Card/Internet Banking. You can also choose to pay through “Cash-on-Delivery” i.e. you pay in cash only when the same is delivered at your doorstep:

List Price: Rs.330, Offer Price: Rs.304, Discount: Rs.26 (8%)

List Price: Rs.330, Offer Price: Rs.304, Discount: Rs. 26 (8%)

List Price: Rs.265, Offer Price: Rs.252, Discount: Rs. 13 (5%)
List Price: Rs.240, Offer Price: Rs.182, , Discount: Rs. 58 (24%)
List Price: Rs.295, Offer Price: Rs.280, Discount: Rs.15 (5%)

LIC AAO interview questions and preparation materials:
For those of you who qualify the written exam of LIC AAO (Generalist) exam, you would have to appear the LIC interview. Aspirants for the post of AAO (Chartered Accountant) & AAO (Actuarially Qualified) on the other hand do not have to appear in the written exam and would be called for interview directly. This section tells you how to prepare for LIC AAO interview.

There was a major change from AIPMT-2010 onwards: the CBSE PMT Final exam was also made Objective type. The AIPMT final was Descriptive type in previous years.

Schedule of CBSE AIPMT-2011 Exam:
CBSE PMT exam is held in two stages (Prelims & Final) with exam schedules as below:

Preliminary Examination - April 03, 2011 (Sunday): Objective type
The CBSE PMT Preliminary Examination consists of a single paper containing 200 objective type questions from Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany & Zoology). This paper needs to be completed in 3 hours (10.00 AM to 1.00 PM).

Each answer has four answer options from which you need to choose the single correct answer and mark it in the machine-gradable answer sheet by darkening the circle for the option completely with a Ball Point Pen only.

You need to take care while darkening the circle for the correct option – the circle should be darkened completely. The answer sheet is evaluated through OCR (Optical Character Recognition) software and hence if the circle is not darkened properly, the answer would come as a blank answer to OCR! How to mark the answer correctly? Just see it from the picture at left, which shows wrong/right way of marking 8 questions.
