Preparation materials on the net for the CRPF ASI/ Head Constable Examination is very less – almost non-existent. However, I would try to point you to the sources of whatever study materials I could find, so that you can prepare for this exam.
At first, let us find what is the pattern/scheme of CRPF Asst. SI/ Head Constable Exami.
CRPF Asst. SI/ Head Constable Exam Pattern:
The selection process for CRPF ASI/HC recruitment consists of two stages:
First stage consists of:
i) Checking documents
ii) Physical Measurements.
iii) Written examinations.
Documents as given in section “9. CHECKING DOCUMENTS” of page-4 in the Notification is checked as well as Physical Measurements are taken to ascertain whether you meet the “Physical standard eligibility” as given in section “4. PHYSICAL STANDARD” in page-2/3 of the Notification.
If you meet these eligibilities, you would be allowed to appear in the CRPF written exam.
Second stage consists of:
i) Typing Speed test (Only on Computer)
ii) Short hand speed test (Only for ASI/Steno)
iii) Checking of documents
iv) Interview.
v) Medical examination.
On qualifying the Stage-1 selection process, you would be shortlisted for the skill tests (Typing Speed test & Short hand speed test). If you can qualify these tests, you would be called for Interview. If you are finally selected, medical examinations are done.
Stage-1: CRPF Recruitment Written Exam Pattern:
The written exam of the CRPF ASI/HC recruitment consists of a single question paper of following four parts, each part having 50 Objective type questions with 1 mark for each question:
Part -I: Hindi/English Language: 50 questions,
Part -II: General Intelligence: 50 questions,
Part-III: Numerical Aptitude: 50 questions,
Part-IV: Clerical Aptitude: 50 questions,
Thus there are a total of 200 questions with 200 total marks to be answered in two hours. Cut-off (i.e. qualifying) mark for this CRPF exam is 80 (i.e. 40% of 200 marks) for General category candidates and 70 (i.e. 35% of 200 marks) for SC/ST/OBC Candidates.
Stage-2: CRPF Skill test pattern for ASI/HC:
What skills are tested in CRPF ASI/HC recruitment exam? Following two:
1) For Assistant Sub-Inspector (Steno):
Dictation: 10 mts @ 80 wpm, Transcription: 50 mts(English), 65 mts (Hindi)
2) For Head Constable (Min):
Typing on computer – 35 wpm in English (30 wpm for SC/ST) or 30 wpm in Hindi.
Sample Papers for CRPF Recruitment Exam:
The four test sections in CRPF ASI/HC written exam is very similar to Bank Clerks exam s. Even the age eligibility (18-25 years in CRPF exam, 18-28 in the bank exam) and the academic eligibility for both exams are same – Class-XII pass in CRPF exam and Class-XII pass with 50%marks in the bank clerk exam. Hence you can use the sample papers for bank clerical/PO exams as prep material for CRPF ASI/HC written exam too.
These sample papers are reproduced below for CRPF Recruitment Exam:
CRPF Exam Sample Paper: Test of Reasoning
Click here to find a previous years Andhra Bank PO exam sample paper (test of reasoning).

CRPF Exam Sample Paper: Numerical Ability
This Quantitative Aptitude test paper of a previous Dena Bank PO exam should give you a good idea about what questions are asked in Numerical Ability section of CRPF exams.
CRPF Exam Sample Paper: Test of English`
CRPF Exam Sample Paper:Clerical Aptitude What is a Clerical Aptitude test? Well, it tests your ability to notice similarities and differences between pairs of names and numbers. Questions asked also assess ability to handle office routine work, like filing, abbreviating, indexing etc. You may find following Clerical Aptitude question papers useful:
Books for CRPF ASI/HC Recruitment Exam:
Sample papers for the CRPF exam as given above are not specific to CRPF exam and hence you should rely upon the guide books available for preparation of CRPF exam.

Prep/Practice material for CRPF Skill tests:
As you could find from above CRPF selection process, in Stage-2, there are two skill tests:

For Head Constable (Min): Typing on computer
To practice for Steno test (Dictation/Transcription), I found following websites can help you:

GAIL Executive Trainee (ET) Exam is scheduled to be held on 23.10.2011 (Sunday), details of which can be found in my previous blog post: GAIL ET Recruitment 2011 Notification Eligibility Forms, which tells you in detail about the recruitment notification as well as the GAIL ET exam eligibilities and how to apply for the same.
This blog post is being made for those who are searching for GAIL exam study materials to help them prepare for the same.
At first, GAIL ET Exam pattern: GAIL in its notification has given following pattern of written exam for Executive Trainees: Paper-1: Subject Knowledge Test - 100 questions. Paper-2: General Aptitude Test - 50 questions.
While Subject Knowledge Test would be specific to your own branch/discipline, General Aptitude Test would be common to all. These 150 Objective type questions are to be answered within two hours duration.
There is negative marking - 1/4th mark will be deducted for each wrong answer. As you can see, you have to give special emphasis on the Subject Test, as it has twice the marks of Aptitude Test. Following the GAIL ET written exam, the short listed candidates would be called for GD/Interview.
GAIL ET Exam Sample Papers: Almost no material is available on the net for GAIL exam – I could not find a single sample or previous years GAIL papers (this is what prompted me for making this blog post – to search for GAIL Exam study materials on net and present the same to you).
In absence of any prep materials for any recruitment exam, what you should do is search for similar recruitment exams and use those sample papers & books. In this case for GAIL ET exam, there is a very similar exam for another public sector industry – NTPC ET recruitment exam.
The pattern of NTPC ET recruitment exam is similar to that of GAIL ET recruitment exam – it also has two papers: Aptitude test & Technical test, for the same branches/disciplines. There are 55 questions in Technical test & 35 in Aptitude – a total of 90 multiple-choice questions, which needs to be answered in 2 hours. It also has negative marking: 1/4th mark deducted for each wrong answer. Hence I am very sure that you would find my previous blog article titled: NTPC Executive Trainee Test: Exam Pattern/Papers/Books useful as prep material for GAIL ET Exam.
Books for GAIL ET Exam: Thus you see, you can use the following books for NTPC ET exam as preparation materials for GAIL ET exam. RBI exam pattern, Sample papers & Books

RBI exam pattern: The 3-phase selection process for the “Group-B” RBI job consists of following phases: Phase-I: Preliminary Test: Written Exam (Objective type) Phase-II: Final Test Written Exam (Descriptive type) Phase-III: Interview. Phase-I test is only of screening in nature (for selecting candidates for Phase-II test) and therefore marks you score in Phase-I test is not counted for the final merit list. The final merit list is prepared based on the total marks you scored in Phase-II Written Test and the Interview.
Let us go into the detail of these three phases.
RBI Phase-I Exam Pattern: The Phase-I test of RBI consists of Objective type questions from following four sections: i) General Awareness. ii) English Language. iii) Quantitative Aptitude. iv) Reasoning. The exam is of 3 hours duration for total 200 marks. You need to qualify in each of these tests individually – the RBI cut-off marks for these tests have not been specified and would be decided based on the relative performance of the candidates.
Other than just above information, the RBI exam notification has not specified any more information, like number of questions in each section and the mark-distribution. But RBI exam pattern for “Group-B” officer’s exam is very similar to the Bank PO exams, with identical exam sections and hence you can make some guesses about how many questions may be asked from following PO exam pattern for Indian Overseas Bank (IOB): IOB PO exam pattern: 225 Questions to be answered in 135 minutes with total 200 marks with following section-wise number of questions: Test of Reasoning Ability 75 Test of Quantitative Aptitude 50 Test of General Awareness 50 Test of English Language 50. Since you would have 180 minutes (3 hours) for the RBI exam, so may be you would have more number of questions.
RBI Phase-II Exam Pattern: For those selected in the RBI Phase-I Exam, they would have to appear for Phase-II Exam, which consists of descriptive questions from following three papers: Paper I – English. Paper II – Economic and Social Issues. Paper III – Finance and Management. The syllabus for these three papers have been given in my previous blog post titled: RBI Exam Syllabus. Each of these papers is of 3 hours duration carrying 100 marks.
Following the RBI Phase-II test, if you are selected, you would have to appear for the final selection: the RBI Interview. Marks you score in the Phase-II & Interview combined would be used for preparation of the final merit list.
RBI Exam Sample papers: After going through above RBI exam pattern, you would naturally want some free online sample papers for RBI exam preparation. I did some searching for you and could come out with following bank exam prep-materials.
If I were you, my first place to check for sample questions on bank management trainee/PO exam would have been Competition Master in the section “BANK RECRUITMENT EXAMS”, which has been publishing solved question papers of previous years banking exams as shown in the screenshot at left.
You would need to register (which is free) to view these sample question papers of bank exams.
Sample Papers for RBI Exam Phase-I: You have four sections in the Phase-I test: General Awareness, English Language, Quantitative Aptitude & Reasoning. You can find the sample papers for these objective tests in the Competition Master website in the section “BANK RECRUITMENT EXAMS”, menu option “Bank PO solved papers”, as shown below:
You would find two sample papers for each of the test of General Awareness and English Language and one paper for each of Quantitative Aptitude & Reasoning.
You can also find some more sample papers from following sources: From Allinterview: RBI Grade-B Officers Recruitment Exam July 2004 Question Paper-1 & Paper-II
Sample Papers for RBI Exam Phase-II: Here you have three papers: “English”, “Economic and Social Issues” & “Finance and Management”. You can find some sample questions again in the Competition Master in four menu option the section “BANK RECRUITMENT EXAMS”, as shown in the highlighted red box below: Books for the RBI exam: I searched for books for RBI Group-B Officers exam preparation and found with following results. These books are available in most of the bookstores, but you can also order them online by clicking the links below, from Flipkart.com which offers huge discounts up to 25%, apart from free shipping/postage in India. You can choose to pay through Credit Card/Debit Card/Internet Banking. You can also choose to pay through “Cash-on-Delivery” i.e. you pay in cash only when the same is delivered at your doorstep:
 Cover Price:Rs. 320; Offer Price:Rs. 294; Discount:Rs. 26 (8%)
Cover Price:Rs. 320; Offer Price:Rs. 294; Discount:Rs. 26 (8%)
Cover Price:Rs. 335; Offer Price:Rs. 251; Discount:Rs. 84 (25%)
Also, since RBI Group-B Officers exam is similar to a bank PO exam, I would like to recommend following Bank PO books for preparation of the management trainee written test.
Cover Price: Rs. 300 Price: Rs. 293/- Discount: Rs. 97 (25% )
Cover Price: Rs. 350 Price: Rs. 263/- Discount: Rs. 87 ( 25% ).
Cover Price: Rs. 391
Cover Price: Rs. 160
Cover Price: Rs. 2608 RBI Interview questions: For RBI Interview, apart from other areas, questions about RBI as an organisation are bound to be asked. So go through the About us page of the website.
RBI results website: After you appear in each of these phases, you would naturally would like to see the result. Check them in the proper time in this RBI exam result website.
