This blog article has been posted as a sequel to my previous blog post tilled: UPSC CMS Exam 2011 Notification Eligibility Forms, which not only told you about the exam notifications of CMS (Combined Medical Services) Exam 2011, but also about notifications for future exams like CMS-2011, CMS-2012 along with the eligibilities required and where to find the forms/how to apply.
This blog post intends to provide you the study materials for CMS exam – the sample papers and books for preparation of CMS exam. The syllabus for CMS exam has been posted in a separate blog article titled: CMS (Combined Medical Services) exam syllabus.
But before that let us know the exam pattern/scheme of CMS exam.
CMS Exam Pattern: Selection process for CMS exam consists of a 500 mark Written test, followed by a 100 mark personality test. The CMS Written test consists of two papers, each of 250 marks and 2 hour duration.
Following table tells you clearly number of questions/marks asked in each of the test sections of both of the CMS exam papers: As you can find from above, each question in the CMS exam weighs 2.083 mark (i.e. 250 marks/120 questions). There is negative marking in CMS exam – 1/3rd of mark for each wrong answer. So your guess answers should be wise ones!
You can also find above that “General Medicine” section in Paper-I & “Gynaecology & Obstetrics” section in Paper-II bears the majority of marks – 160 each – close to 60% in each paper. So you can know from the same where to put emphasis while preparing for the CMS exam.

You can click below to download these previous years papers of CMS exam: Prep./Guide Book for CMS Exam: While above sample papers can serve only as eye openers, your real preparation for CMS exam should be based on your college days knowledge combined with following guide/prep books for Combined Medical Services Exam.

FCI (Food Corporation of India) had recently issued recruitment notification for a huge requirement of 3275 Assistant Grade III positions for the session 2010-2011 in its five zones.
This steep hike in number of recruits in FCI in the recent times suggests FCI is taking effort to bring in a change in its organizational structure, infusing young and technical blood in the organisation – hope you are aware of the criticism FCI had to go though because of news item like this, which caught everyone’s eye.
Why I say this is because if you see the eligibility requirement for these FCI positions, you would find the requirement is “‘O’ level computer qualification of DOEACC/Degree in Computer Science or Computer Application” – so my haunch is that FCI is going hi-tech – and why not? Because FCI in essence provides logistic service for our food grains and use of IT would bring in a change immediately.
