NABARD Asst. Manager Exam Sample papers, books & Exam pattern

June 20, 2010

NABARD Exam Sample papers Books Exam pattern
NABARD had recently issued recruitment notification for 170 Assistant Manager positions, details of which can be found in the previous blog post of mine titled: NABARD Recruitment 2010: Notification, Eligibility & Forms.

This blog post of mine is intended as a sequel to above post, focusing on giving you the study materials for NABARD exam – the sample papers & books with an analysis of exam pattern.

First let us know the pattern of examination of NABARD.

NABARD Exam pattern:
At first let me tell you the current notification is for various positions in NABARD and the scheme of exam is hence different for the different positions:
AM (RDBS): Total 150, General: 75, Other than General: 75
AM (Rajbhasa): 5, AM (Protocol & Security): 9, Manager (Legal):6

The selection process has been given very clearly in section- "VII. SELECTION PROCEDURE" in page-10 to 12 in the notification. Kindly go through the same properly.
Following table also gives you clearly the selection process for NABARD AM (RDBS) positions:
NABARD Exam Pattern
As you can see above, Stage-1 consists of two written exams – Prelims in Phase-1 & Mains in Phase-II. The mark you score in Prelims is for screening purpose only – just to select you for Mains exam. The marks would not be counted for further purpose.

On being selected for the Mains exam, you have to appear in two papers: Paper-I (Descriptive) of 100 marks & Paper-II (Objective) of 200 marks. If you rank sufficiently high in Mains, you would be called for Interview. The marks you score in Mains exam (i.e. out of 300 total) and the interview would be used for preparing the merit list.

Syllabus for NABARD Exam:
No syllabus has been prescribed for NABARD exam – hence you have to follow the standard of questions set for other banking recruitment exams like that of a Bank PO for NABARD Prelims exam.

In NABARD Mains exam, The Paper-I (Descriptive) would test of the Analytical & Drafting ability and the questions would consist of Essay writing, comprehension, report writing, paragraph writing, Letter writing.
For Rajbhasa & Legal service positions, Analytical & Drafting ability would be tested based on respective disciplines (i.e. Rajbhasa & Law).

The Paper-II (Objective) of NABARD Mains exam would consist of 50 questions from following disciplines based on the positions:
For RDBS (General): Socio-Economic issues.
For RDBS (Other than General), Legal Service & Rajbhasa Service:
Based on syllabus of respective disciplines. E.g. for Legal Service, syllabus would be that of Law and for Rajbhasa Service, syllabus would be that of Rajbhasa.

NABARD Exam Sample/Model Papers:
As you could find out from the NABARD exam pattern above, there are two written exams – Prelims & Mains.
Both of these very closely resemble to the Bank PO (Probationary Officers) exams and hence you could use the sample papers of Bank PO for NABARD AM (RDBS) exams.

For instance as you could find from this blog article on SBI PO Sample papers, Books & Exam pattern, the Prelims of NABARD exam has same test sections as that Bank PO exam – General Awareness, English Language, Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning with even the total number of questions roughly the same- 225 questions in NABARD Prelims compared to 250 questions in Syndicate Bank PO exam. Only exception is that there is no Computer Proficiency test section in NABARD exam.

So for the sample papers of NABARD Prelims exam, just follow on all the sample papers given in that blog post –given test section-wise separately for each of the four test sections.

For the sample papers of NABARD Paper-I (Descriptive English), Competition Master has some very good topics for Essay & Paragraph writing in menu-item “Bank PO & Clerk Recruitment exams”, in the section “Descriptive Question Set”.

Paper-II (Objective) of NABARD Mains exam is discipline specific (except for RDBS (General) which would consist of questions on Socio-Economic issues). Hence you must do your own research to find sample papers for your discipline of specialization.

From the net, I could find following NABARD exam previous years papers:
