The focus of this blog article is on providing you the study materials for SSC JE exam to help you prepare for it. Before that let us analyse the exam pattern of SSC JE exam.
SSC CPWD/MES JE exam pattern/format: Selection process of SSC Junior Engineers recruitment consists of two stages: a 500 mark written test, followed by a 100 mark Interview for those shortlisted in the written test.
The SSC JE Written exam consists of two papers: Paper 1: Objective type question paper: 200 marks/ 2 hour duration (9.30-11.30 A.M). Paper 2: Descriptive type question paper: 300 marks/ 3 hour duration (1.00-4.00 P.M). Subject of each paper along with mark distribution is given below: In the engineering paper (both objective as well as descriptive), the subject is Civil & Structural for SSC JE Civil stream and Electrical & Mechanical for SSC JE Electrical stream.
SSC CPWD/MES JE exam cut-off/qualifying mark: SSC decides upon the cut-off mark for selection of candidates in the written test on the relative performance of all the candidates and hence the actual cut-off mark to be called for interview can be known only when the result is declared.
But you can guess the SSC JE Written exam cut-off from the following cut-offs of SSC JE Exam 2009 (Written) published on 11.12.2009:
As you can find above, the marks being scored in the written test is very low. Even for Open (UR) category candidates, the cut-off is 36% for Civil stream while 40% for Electrical stream as given below:

SSC CPWD/MES JE exam sample paper: To base your preparation for the SSC JE exam, you naturally would like to find sample papers for the SSC JE exam. I had tried to find it on the net – but could not find any paper exclusively for the exam.
However for the two non-engineering objective papers of SSC JE exam (i.e. 50 mark General Intelligence & Reasoning and 50 mark General Awareness), you can follow the sample papers for Bank PO exam which I had posted in the blog article titled: SBI Bank PO Exam pattern, Sample papers & Books. The blog post points you to the sources of question papers, which you can use as the sample paper for General Intelligence & Reasoning and General Awareness papers of SSC JE exam.
