With effect from Combined Graduate Level examination 2010, SSC (Staff Selection Commission) has brought in several changes in the pattern/format of Combined Graduate Level examination. This blog post intends to bring to you those changes as well as tell you the pattern of Combined Graduate Level examination for individual posts. As the pattern has changed, so has the syllabus for Combined Graduate Level examination, which you can find it here.
Changes in the Combined Graduate Level examination pattern/format: The changes which have been brought by SSC in Combined Graduate Level examination 2010 can be categorized as follows: 1.0 Single application for multiple posts. 2.0 Multiple-tier selection process. 3.0 Objective type questions. Let us go into details of these changes.
1.0 Single application for multiple posts: Prior to Combined Graduate Level examination 2010, there used to be a number of similar examinations conducted by SSC as given below: (i) Combined Graduate Level Exam. (ii) Tax Assistant Exam. (iii) Section Officer (Commercial Audit) Exam. (iv) Section Officer (Audit) Exam. (v) Complier (for O/o RGI) Exam. (vi) Statistical Investigator Grade-II (for M/o Statistics & Prog. Implementation) Exam. (vii) Sub-Inspector in CPOs Exam. Prior to 2010, you were supposed to apply for each exam separately. Now w.e.f. 2010, with a single application, you would be able to appear in Combined Graduate Level examination 2010 for all of these posts.
2.0 Multiple-tier selection process: With effect from Combined Graduate Level examination 2010, the selection process would be multi-tiered. Tier-I is common to all posts and would be used for screening purpose. Tier-II is specific to posts for which you apply/given your preference while Tier-III is Interview – the last stage. For the posts of Divisional Accountant, Auditor, Accountant, UDCs & Tax Assistant there is no Tier-III (i.e. Interview).
3.0 Objective type questions: Type of questions asked from Combined Graduate Level examination 2010 would be Objective type – in both Tier-I as well as Tier-II.
As you can see above, there are a lot of advantages for the examinees – with a single application you can apply to all these posts for which previously you had to appear in separate exams. Also objective type questions is much better than descriptive questions to appear.
The following exams pattern of Combined Graduate Level examination not only gives you the various papers in each tier, but also gives you the mark distribution and duration in each paper.
